Dash Cam

I bought a new Mini801 from amazon as it gets some good reviews and was cheap (£42 with 8GB card).

I must say that first impressions are good. Video quality is good enough for what I need both day and night. I am having trouble finding the best place to mount it though.

I have got auto lights, wipers and dimming mirror so it's like having a laptop stuck to the front windscreen. There is very little room for anything else. Has anyone else fitted a dash cam to their fiesta (with all the auto stuff) and if so, where did you put the camera to get a clear view of the road?

See if you can install it at the back of the mirror. Considering its small it would fit nicely

This is where i placed my mini 0803 (LHD Fiesta):

Next to the city stop camera. It is placed right behind the rear view mirror, the driver can't see the camera from his point of view. The passenger looks right into it, but that's just the way it is. As far as i know, this is the only place where you can put it safely.

Thanks. I'll have a look later. Unfortunately for us RHD cars the camera mount cannot be swapped around so the mount and the lead are furthest away from the centre.

I'm pretty sure it won't effect your sight if you place it on the RHD. Plus you'll get used it and won't even bother you anymore.

The only issue I found is that the actual camera lens is then right next to the plastic trim and it cuts off some of the camera view :-(

I have my Mobius mounted a little to the left and behind the mirror, as high on the windscreen as it will go. I'll try and get a photo of the position for you. It gets a little bit of the rain sensor trim and the un-cleared part of the windscreen in the top corners of its picture, but I'm happy with it. Here's a clip to give you an idea:

Luckily I have another clip for that. It's pretty good at night except on unlit roads where it struggles a bit.

That's good. Better than my Mini801. I'll have to get a couple of sample vids up to compare once it's stuck properly.

I just had a cheap thing, all of £14 and its, well ok but that mobius looks good.

Mounted mine on the drivers side high up,its one of those with the flip down screen so

fits up very high.

I have the same cam, and I fitted it directly onto the plastic moulding behind and slightly below the rear view mirror. Works fine, doesn't intrude apart from the led being rather bright. A small piece of coloured sweet wrapper can take care of that though

Going to a garage tomorrow to have it wired in to the fuse box, but up to now I've just routed the cable by hanging it from the sun visor and the coat hook thing. It makes it difficult when someone tries to get in the back lol, with a cable dangling in their way.

Yeah seen I can get the hard wire kit on the net for less than £10 but don't fancy my luck with electrics.

There's a good thread on here on hard wiring but think I'll try finding a garage to do it!

Will you have it so its always on or powered by ignition on/off

Does anyone know on here how these file record works as i'm getting problems.

Will record for 5 mins (works on windows ) then other file there but plays so much and goes off,i have drove more than 10 mins.

Don't play on windows player but does on VLC but error saying file is damaged, why play first 5 mins o.k.

I'm going to have it set to the ignition so it's only powered when I'm driving.

And have you got your video setting on 5 min loop instead of continuous record? There are helpful videos on YouTube that go through the controls.

Yes on 5min,was on 10min but put it onto 5 see if it helps, tried another sd card but only class 4

and 8gb and seems to work, even half done files open but my main one is a 32gb kingston class 10 that it says it supports.

Giving the 32gb a full format and try again

Wish mine was on the ignition as mine stuck on 24/7...here is my cheap O cam and how i fitted it.

dam good fit i think.
