Hi all.

I'm looking at getting a mondeo diesel and wondered which model to get. It has to have bluetooth, cruise control and isofix.

Which model would you lot suggest?

I'm looking at spending around 6-8. Would prefer as new as possible, but avoid any with mega mileage.

Stupid question but what's the difference between a titanium, a titanium X and the sport model?

Stupid question but what's the difference between a titanium, a titanium X and the sport model?

In simple terms it's the level of toys provided on the vehicle from factory, the x sport obviously has the extra styling kit and larger wheels aswell as all the toys :)

As Ross says it all comes down to toys really

I've been looking for a definitive spec list for the different models but cant seem to find one

Also looking on autotrader to compare them but to be honest there are that many extras available that no two of the same models seem to be the same

For example I've seen two titaniums, one has heated leather seats, the other has none heated cloth seats, one has a conves+ speedo, the other doesnt, one has 18" alloys, the other has 17". Its the same for the titanium x too.

The only clear deference I can immediately see to differentiate the titanium from the titanium x is that the titanium only has standard halogen headlights, whereas the titanium x has cornering headlights, these still use halogen bulbs but they move side to side in the direction you turn the wheel to light up the road ahead better when cornering.

The daddy has to be the titanium x sport though. Basically the st version. Available in a 2.5 petrol, 2.0 diesel or a 2.2 diesel. Think it's in a 1.8d too.

The x sport has all the toys of the titanium x as well as the heated leather seats being standard, convers+ seems to be standard, 18" alloys as standard as well as sports suspension and xenon headlights as standard. And if you go for the 2.5 petrol or 2.2 diesel it also comes with a twin exhaust. Oh and to really set it apart from the other models is comes with sideskirts, rear bumper diffuser, front bumper skirt, honey comb grills and a spoiler. Though the spoiler is also an option on the other titanium's too.

Things like privacy glass, parking sensors, sun roofs, dab radios and sat navs seem to be hit and miss and vary massively from car to car so its best to shop around A LOT as theres a lot of mondeos out there so I'd say hold out till you find the perfect spec for you with most/all the toys you want.

What exactly do you call high miles?

I paid 7.5grand for my 58 plate x sport. bought it with 71k on the clock which may sound a lot but the mileage was spot on for the age. For the same price I could of got a lower spec mondeo with half the miles or even a facelift mondeo titanium x with similar miles but for me it just had to be the beasty x sport.

I was even looking at the facelift txs, the going rate for these with about 70k on the clock seems to be about 12grand. I was actually really really tempted but just couldnt justify it. I am very happy though with my pre facelift. Only thing I would like to do is fit the satnav out of the facelift

Thanks Ross and Brigante. I will definitely start searching for a titanium X sport.

Is the 2.0 or 2.2 diesel engine better? I know ford Ford used to have quite a few faults in the 2.0 diesel with glow plugs but don't know if this is common with the 2.2 as well.

Personally I'd just say trump for the 2.2 if you are gonna go for the txs

Its like the same tax and there wasnt really any difference in mpg to stop me going for the bigger engine

Believe it or not when I first set out looking for a mondeo i was only gonna get a 1.8tdci

But after speaking to members on the forum I quickly discovered the 1.8 was just not gonna cut it as the mondeo is a heavy car. So the 2.0 it was, but then thought ah what the hell may as well go all out

My mrs has bought a Mondeo Sport 1.8tdci must admit the Titanium X are really nice looking but what she paid for this couldn't turn it down as it has every optional extra she wanted just needs the Titanium X wheels & lowered 20mm
