RB2004
Can't remember but on Mondeo which s max is based on, on 1 engine there was a tsb about exhaust fumes. Apparently a bracket on exhaust where it joints turbo needed modifying and adjusting Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
RB2004
TSB 95/2009 Should a customer express concern about exhaust gas smell inside of passenger cabin when the engine is running in idle and the vehicle is in stationary position, the probable cause is a misalignment of the catalytic converter to the turbocharger. jannerbuy
This happened on my 1.6 Tdci focus before Xmas. The fumes smelt like un-burnt fuel rather than exhaust. Traced the cause to a leaking injector (copper washer had split) Cost of the washer was 10p Cost of complete repair by garage was £80 (Reduced) smell sting hanging around HTH
