ford_focus2001
I live UK.I buy used car . My car registration number does not come automatically to the insurance company database. One insurance company website it comes wrong data. I was confused my model . I check etis it said ford focus ztect when I give my engile number. But today I found under the front door it said LX . I already made my insurance and I need to correct it. How can i correct FORD ETIS ? "Does the car have an alarm/immobiliser?" what is the answer of this question for insurance purpose? Also in https://www.etis.ford.com/ , my car said estate but my car is 5 door hatchback. This is my first car and I am very confused.
gus607
I'd be worried that my car was'nt a "Ringer".
madmole
Did you get an HPI check on that car? What do the documents from the DVLA say? Does the VIN visible through the windscreen, match the VIN on the plate inside the engine bay or drivers door, does it match the VIN on the V5 document from DVLA? Sounds suspiciously like you may have a cut and shut, who did you buy it from, private sale or dealer?
artscot79
Never mind insurance you're car sounds seriously dodgy the info on ford etis isn't wrong the car when built was entered onto the database vin number engine number and registration so the problems you're car not ford etis if its registered there should be no issues with the registration number they are all linked..... the zetec and lx are different specs The engine may have been replaced so don't use the engine number use the vin in the front window even then it doesn't explain why it says lx
ford_focus2001
Thanks all. VC5/2 documents which sellers give me only have Make -Ford Three is no model name. I called DVLA (UK car registration authority) and there is no information about model on there . They asked me to find the information and inform me. https://totalcarcheck.co.uk Before buy the car , I checked my car details on this website for stolen or insurance off issue. VIN visible through the windscreen is similar through MOT(UK car fitness certificate) documents. How can I find VIN on other places ? I buy this car from private seller. artscot79
Drivers side carpet next to the door is a flap of carpet that lifts up the vin is also stamped onto the floor No model on the v5 is weird how can you tax the car without the model specifics I've never had a v5 in all my years that doesn't state Make Model Engine size Build date The vin on the window should match the vin under the carpet and the vin on the v5 It could be as simple as the plate on the door was lost with the info and they've stuck any one on though I doubt it to be honest
ford_focus2001
Very nice reply. This car is 2001 . I buy it 2015 . Am I responsible if there is no model name on the V5c/2 documents ? I already make insurance that this a ztec from ford etis. Now I find under the door it said LX. ETIS entry may be wrong. I am thinking to inform insurance company this changes. Can I change insurance policy does it effect credit file? Please suggest me
MONDEO TXS 2.2
ETIS is unlikely to be wrong - take the car & V5 back to the seller & take a police officer with you.
artscot79
Etis isn't wrong I'm afraid the reg and vin number are assigned to the car when its built the problem you have is you don't even know what model it is in an accident you'll be liable and uninsured if the car is not what its supposed to be clearly the vin number and engine number are not the same the badge on the door isn't the one for the car and you have issues with the reg number quite frankly the car sounds very dodgy and the above is the best course of action I'll say it again I've never seen a v5 that does not have the make and model for example on my old mk1 it stated ford focus 1800cc zetec it also had the date it was first registered and the reg number and vin number
Dee_82
http://vin-numbers-location.weebly.com/ford-focus.html check the Stamped Chassis Number and visible vin are the same and match your documents, see if the others are there for good measure type those in to etis and see what it comes up with

Sierraboy
I also found that https://nextcarcheck.com was good for checking the car info. It's a UK checking site
