BHeart
Just a quick query, I'm due to collect my new Titanium X this Wednesday and I think I'm right in saying that the software comes on an SD Card but, is it loaded onto the system at the factory and, as the owners of the car, are we entitled to get/keep the SD Card during hand-over? ifoundmyalloys
Theoretically you could take it out and keep it, but keep in mind, that's reducing the value of that option. You're removing the sat nav which doesn't make sense as it'll lower the value of the car in the long run. Surely they would use a HDD though? That would make it less easy to upload the software onto loads of sd cards and sell them on?
MarksST
The SD card will be in its slot above the sat nav screen.
JRM
Picked my red up yesterday. Dealer put the sd card in the slot just before he showed me how to use the satnav. I presume if there is an update to the maps you just pop in a new card.
Rod_FOC
The SD card is in the NAV unit somewhere (depends on which Nav as to precisely where). I was given the SD card box and opened blister pack when I got our new-to-us 63 plate Galaxy with touchscreen nav. The SD card is located behind the bezel under the screen on the Galaxy. The SD card needs to be in the unit for the vehicle to access the data... and upgraded maps come on a new card. Not tried to put my SD card in a computer to see if you can back it up and/or add custom Points of Interest ... nor have I found much on that side of things so far. Quite likely to have some sort of copy protection software or custom formatting to inhibit that though!
jackgl
It won't work without the SD card. Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
StumpyBloke
What jackgl says. The card also includes firmware/software updates too. Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC

I presume if there is an update to the maps you just pop in a new card. That's what I thought too, and I've been meaning to connect the SD card to my laptop and see what's on it, if there's anything that can be accessed. Considering how much Ford charge for map updates I wonder if some people will try to copy new maps from other cars to avoid paying. Not saying I'm going to do that :P

I don't see how anything could be corrupted unless you try to change something, unless the card has some kind of custom protection system built in. It looks like a standard SD card, but if there was any risk in connecting it to a PC there should be a warning on it. I think Ford will know that people might try that even if they just want to backup the maps on it.
johnmeds
Hi I have the 2014 Focus 1.6 Titanium estate Auto. Does anybody else have problems with their satnav not knowing the different between left and right in some junctions? Meaning the map shows one thing, but the voice says the other :/ Took it back to the dealers, and they can't find the fault .... Just wondering if I had a blond satnav? Dagenham Dave
Hi. Just purchased 13 plate Titanium with SatNav. No SD card. Do I need to request as should have been provided by Ford Dealer or do I have to purchase? Thanks for any next step help.
Phil 87
Hi. Just purchased 13 plate Titanium with SatNav. No SD card. Do I need to request as should have been provided by Ford Dealer or do I have to purchase? Thanks for any next step help. If the car was sold to you by a Ford dealer and was advertised as having the built in sat-nav, the SD card should be supplied. The first thing I'd do is contact them and ask if they have the SD card for the car. I'm not 100% certain but I think they have miss-sold the car if the satnav doesn't work due to a missing SD card, so they should sort it out for you.
BHeart
Yes, Phil is correct. If you purchased a Fiesta Titanium with built in SatNav, then the SD card should have been provided to you. After all, the SatNav is useless without the card so, go back to the dealer and ask them for the SD card - if they don't have the card that should have already been in the slot, then they need to provide you with a card containing the map version that was originally sold with the car when new, or provide you with a new and up to date SD card. Dagenham Dave
Many thanks Phil & BHeart for the replies, very much appreciated. Did think so, pleased to get confirmation.
laumk7
Don't mean to ask a stupid question, but, where does this SD card go? Which slot? I've got a titanium x and there is no slot I can see, btw I wasn't supplied with a SD card or disc either Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
MarksST
It's just above the sat nav screen, its usually fitted before you collect the car. Does your sat nav work? If yes then its fitted.

Yes the sat nav works, it took us home from the dealership and since to and from my brothers, try as I might though I can't see any slot for it though, I'll have another look in a minute and if I still can't find it supply a photo so you can help me pinpoint it's exact whereabouts :)Sent from my iPad using Ford OC
MarksST
Its about 10-15mm above the screen.
BHeart
Hi Laurie As already stated, it's right above the centre of the display and immediately below the 'sun cover' - it is quite dark in that area so you won't readily see the horizontal slot but once you know where it is, your fixed. laumk7
Yep spotted it, it's very missable if you don't know what you're looking for isn't it? Sent from my iPad using Ford OC
BHeart
Glad you found it. 😊 Just a 'heads up' for you, the SD card slot works on a 'spring' so you need to push it in against the spring to eject it - but there should be no need for you to remove the card unless you are inserting a replacement. I.e. New card with updates.
Mojostyle
Hi I'm new here so I don't really know how this forum works but I've got a question. I have a 2010 Mondeo that needs an SD card for the SAT Nav. I've been quoted £240 by my nearest dealership which I think is over the top since I can get a tomtom for much less. I've seen a few on eBay but how do I know the part number that'll work with my built in Sat nav? I requested for a part number from the dealership but I think the number they gave me does not match any of the ones I've seen online. Thanks
