"Rear Electric windows"

To retrofit the 4-window electric comfort windows you need a lot of parts. You need at least the follwing parts.

* Rear window mechanisms with door modules.

* Front window mechanisms.

* Front door modules.

* All door wiring looms.

* Interior floor wiring loom.

* All door switches.

I also may have forgotten some parts. The system also needs to be programmed into the car.

"Cruise Control"

Cruise Control can be retrofitted without any problems. I wrote a guide about retrofitting the original Cruise Control system on the Focus MK3.

"Auto dip rear view mirror"

The automatic dimming rear view mirror can be retrofitted without any problem. In some cases the wiring is missing and must be retrofitted also. Note that there are different windscreens used for the different trim levels. My car with Active City Stop laser, rain sensor, light sensor and automatic main beam sensor has a different windscreen from the lower spec versions of the Focus MK3.

"Centre console with Z shape handbrake"

Can be retrofitted without any problems. If you have all parts this will simply be plug and play.

"SONY Radio"

Can be retrofitted without any problems. Note that there are different versions of the Focus MK3 radio's. The older radio's were compatible with the old Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system while the newer radios' are compatible with the SYNC system. These radio's and some of the wiring are not compatible. You have to buy a radio which is compatible with your car.

"Auto Wipers"

"Auto Lights"

To retrofit auto lights and wipers you will need the sensors on the windscreen and the light switch. In some cases the wiring is missing and must be retrofitted also. Depending on the trim level of the car the windscreen may be different also. The auto lights and wipers must also be configured in the Central Car Configuration.

"Power folding Mirrors"

To retrofit the fower fold mirrors you need both mirrors, the door wiring looms and the window switch assembly with folding button. The folding mirrors must also be configured in the Central Car Configuration.

If you have access to a scrap car which has all needed parts it will be no problem to retrofit all options mentioned above. The biggest job will be removing the wiring looms from a scrap car and installing them into your car.

Well I was so determined for all of above, i traded my Zetec in and bought a titanium. Absolutely chuffed to bits, only thing I lost due to manufacturing date was Ford SYNC, but lets face it, it's not exactly a real benefit.

Only thing my Titanium doesn't have in Xenon's which I would like to retrofit. I am currently searching for some OEM Xenon headlights with ballasts and bulbs, but what else do I require to complete this mod?

I have the foCCCus program to be able to enable the Xenon's (as i have noticed it is an ECU option) but what else do I need other than the headlight themselves?

Got a 1.6tdci 2013 and been looking to retrofit the DRLs but want to keep it with gen ford parts. Does anyone know if there is a connector ready for this? Dont really want to hijack the headlight connection like i have seen on some guides elsewhere..

Seen some fitting instructions about somewhere for ford drls , will see if I can find them and let you know if they plug in somewhere or splice in to headlights.

i dont think there is an option on this, as far as im aware, there is at build stage, a different headlight wiring loom fitted I could be well wrong though

however im going to get mine wired by an auto electrician

Thanks guys. Just looking into it at mo and being a new car to me im still getting to grips. I would of thought all the cars got the same looms at factory level and then the trim/gadgets is installed at dealer level...or thats what i was told typical manufacturers do like nissan in sunderland lol

Hi, I've just bought a set of oem xenon headlamps with bulbs & ballasts for my mk3 focus, tested them after fitting and the lamps power up fine with just the ignition on, but once the engine is running the lamps start to flicker and not come on at all, does anyone know why?

HID lights need to be configured in the vehicles Central Configuration of the BCM module.

On the Focus MK3 the Halogen headlights are controlled by a PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) signal when the engine is running. This PWM signal is used to improve the lifetime of the halogen bulbs. In some cases the PWM signal may even lower the voltage to about 8 Volts. The HID ballasts and starters can not work properly with the PWM signal. The system may even shut itself of to protect itself. The HID lights require a steady 12 Volt power.

By changing the Central Configuration of the BCM to HID lights the Lights are controlled with a steady 12 Volt power. This will solve your problem. The Central Configuration can be reconfigured using an ELM327 interface and the free FoCCCus software.

Wont the hid need the self leveling to aim right? Or just adjust them to midway on beam tester to allow for extra weight in the rear

the original HID lights are not compatible with the manual electric adjustment system. If you want them to be fully legal you have to install the automatic adjustment system also. Otherwise the HID headlights can only be adjusted manually using the adjustment screws at the back of the headlights. If you adjust them with some extra weight in the back of the car the headlights will aim too low without load and too high if the car is fully loaded.

Also note that the HID headlights can not be configured as the "normal" original HID headlights. Because of the missing automatic height adjustment module the BCM will generate an error which is shown on the display of the instrument cluster. You have to configure the HID headlights as "Alternative HID". This setting forces the BCM to output a steady 12 Volt power to the ballast without the automatic height adjustment. This setting will generate an error code but this is not shown on the display and is not noticeable during normal operation.

The #14 "Headlights Type" setting of the central Configuration of the BCM must be changed from "Halogen Lights With Adjuster (02)" to "Alternative HID (03)".

This setting is also suitable for aftermarket HID headlights. I use a pair of aftermarket Sky Wing projector headlights combined with an aftermarket HID Kit. After I programmed the correct settings these headlights work without any problem. Another advantage of these aftermarket headlights is that the manual electric adjustment remains fully functional.

To change the Central Configuration of the BCM you do not need a modified ELM327 interface. The BCM is on the HS-CANbus network. A modified ELM327 interface is only needed for modules on the MS-CANbus network.

The Central Configuration of the Focus MK3 is stored in both the BCM (HS-CAN) and the instrument cluster (MS-CAN). The Central Configuration file of the BCM is the most important because all electronic modules of the car use this file. The Central Configuration file of the instrument cluster is more or less a backup file. It is not necessary to change this file.

Personally I like both files to be identical. If you also want to change both Central Configuration files you do have to use a modified ELM327 interface.

Was just wondering as whilst I was trying to change the BCM settings on the focccus software, the message 'could not init elm' came up. This was on the 0.8.4 version. Is there a preferred version of the software?

does the Continental version of the headlight have an adjustable shutter to convert from LHD to RHD?

Also can the auto level system be retrofitted? or is it too much like hard work

Both the LHD and RHD versions of the original HID headlights have a lever to switch between LHD and RDH. This is however only for temporary use.

The automatic levelling system can be retrofitted. To do this you need the auto levelling module, sensors on the front and rear axle and all wiring. These parts are quite expensive and if the wiring is missing it will be a lot of work to change the wiring looms.

JW1982, could you tell me which version of focccus you used? I've changed the settings to 'alternative HID' for my stock at-3 xenons and I'm still having the issue of them flickering when the engine is running. Cheers.

I used version 0.8.3 of the FoCCCus program to change the configuration of the BCM. Changing the Central Configuration settings should make the HID headlights work without any problems.

Does your headlight connectors have all needed wiring for HID lights? Most times vehicles with halogen headlights do not have all needed wiring for HID headlights. The HID headlights require at least an extra earth connection.
