Morning Guys,

Been a long time from when i was on here last...
I currently have a year old ford bmax 1.0 ecoboost 125 titanium and im looking to chop it in for a few year old focus. ( house saving need to be boosted) i have been looking for cars around the 10k mark and i am stuck for what engine to go for.

Both are titaniums both have around 30-40k miles on, I do around 1000 miles per month and once a week complete a 100 mile round trip on motorways to uni.

i have had the 1 litre eco boost in the fiesta and bmax and i have had the 1.6tdci in the mk2.5 focus. what are people really getting mpg wise in both? i would say i average 40mpg in the ecoboost and im sure the tdci was about 45 ( its been 3 years from whan i had one)

with the DPF is there anything i should be looking at with a 2 or 3 year old car? any common faults on the early mk3's to look for?

Cheers in advanced

I'm speaking with fingers crossed here as I don't want to jinx myself.

I own a 2012 1.6tdci titanium x and at the moment and for the year I have owned it it has been faultless.

I do 350 miles a week and have done 20000 miles in it this last year. It's serviced every 12000 by ford and I give it an oil and air filter change in between so it gets fresh oil and filters every 6000.

I average brain in mind I'm mostly motorway 54mpg but I do drive in and out of london so I'm usually sat in traffic.

And of course road tax is 20 quid per year.

I know this engine gets bad press but I'm happy with mine.

I can't comment on the 1.0 but it's suppose to be good.

Cheers

Adrian.

Ecoboost for the drive, Diesel for the economy. Are you pleased with your B-Max overall?

hi,,, for that milage and distance id go with the 1.6 tdci econetic 115bhp titanium,,, now im not just saying that because thats what i have,,, ok then yes i am. :)

If you were buying a shopping/town buggy id go with the other engine but for what your doing i feel it would tell on that engine in the end, its not been proved yet but a small angine pulling that weight over a long period of time will not last as long as a bigger engine pulling that same weight,,, basic engineering.

As for the 1.6 and the milage, i did 108 miles from the garage top of my street to Scarborough and back yesterday, B roads and Town driving and it gave me 65.4 mpg,
