So guys I’ve had my ST2 for about 15 months now and have done quite a few cosmetic mods to it so decided it was time I put a thread up for you all to see how it’s progressing. Hope you enjoy reading this as much as I’ve enjoyed do all the mods.

So here we go;

This is the day I picked it up from the dealers In January 2014 after a 4 month wait from ordering due to Ford completely under estimating the demand in the UK. Seen here with my ZS going the other way in part ex after 11 months ownership.

post-38083-0-37488300-1428315211_thumb.j

Took it out for the first drive up on Saddleworth moor, it was January so it got dark pretty early that day,

post-38083-0-55613400-1428315319_thumb.j

Mods started pretty much straight away.

First up I put my Brodit phone cradle in powered from the 12v power socket so my iPhone is always charging, very useful when I have the sat nav app running.

post-38083-0-58764900-1428315366_thumb.j

Next up added a few extra bhp by adding the club sticker. Decided to place it on the rear window

post-38083-0-25775900-1428315451_thumb.j

K&N filter and Mountune silicon inlet hose went in next, this is my only real “performance” mod although let’s be honest the difference is negligible, probably less than the FOC sticker!

post-38083-0-45806700-1428315528_thumb.j post-38083-0-07354400-1428315589_thumb.j

Next up lights. Started with de-tango all round

post-38083-0-95805700-1428315773_thumb.j post-38083-0-90535100-1428315806_thumb.j post-38083-0-77518200-1428315848_thumb.j

Then number plate bulbs, fitted Cree’s first but wasn’t happy with the light spread so changed for a different style of Cree bulb which give a much better appearance

post-38083-0-66773200-1428315930_thumb.j

Finally HID 6000k 35w headlight conversion (just need to hide the ballasts down under the light now)

post-38083-0-86820700-1428316064_thumb.j post-38083-0-47141500-1428316126_thumb.j

They do have a slight blue tinge to them so I am considering a change of bulb temp and maybe an upgrade to 55w, although the ones I had in the ZS were 55w and they wouldn’t work in the ST they just flickered then went out so I’m not sure of best way for these?

Next job was interior lights Cree’s again (I do love them) plus red foot well bulbs and a LED strip light in the boot makes it far easier to see at night

Added ST dust caps all round

post-38083-0-56210300-1428316964_thumb.j

Then I purchased a clear lens high level brake light looks far better than the stock red one. Here’s my fitting guide http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/tutorials/article/244-fitting-a-clear-high-level-brake-light-to-a-st2/

post-38083-0-00305900-1428317041_thumb.j post-38083-0-01188900-1428317082_thumb.j

Costs then start to increase having done mainly small jobs up to now. Had the engine cover painted body colour

post-38083-0-29504700-1428317174_thumb.j post-38083-0-57046400-1428317209_thumb.j

My family then bought this for my birthday in October. A Triple R Composites front splitter for a meaner look. Here’s a link to my fitting guide http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/tutorials/article/265-triple-r-composites-front-splitter/

post-38083-0-04353400-1428317290_thumb.j post-38083-0-92436300-1428317337_thumb.j

At Christmas got a small personal mod just for me courtesy of the owners club shop!

post-38083-0-24171300-1428317388_thumb.j

Car is now a year old and has its first anniversary service at local Ford dealership. No problems found and no costs on the day as I have a service plan with my dealer.

Then I took a quick trip across to Blackpool to see Chris at Paintmodz and a member of Ford Fanatics. He is an excellent painter have a look at his Facebook page here https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.694739117222035.1073741830.552921038070511&type=3 and on Instagram http://www.oninstagram.com/paintmodz I really can’t recommend him highly enough very high quality products.

Got the exterior plastics painted gloss black. This is the mod I am most pleased with. It has completely changed the appearance of the car. Why Ford don’t do this as standard I really don’t understand

Aluminium footrest helps complete the inside and keeps the carpet clean

post-38083-0-37991200-1428318006_thumb.j

I bought these from SICO developments, poly exhaust hangers much firmer than the OEM ones but genuine Ford parts, and they’re yellow, ooohhh!

post-38083-0-73605800-1428318180_thumb.j

Old soft rubber mounts come off, the three red ones are replaced but the front blue one stays on to allow the flexible exhaust to still be free to flex without splitting. I was really surprised how soft the original ones are

post-38083-0-88659400-1428318218_thumb.j post-38083-0-22928900-1428318250_thumb.j post-38083-0-26146400-1428318275_thumb.j post-38083-0-23919100-1428318306_thumb.j

And the three new ones fitted to the exhaust which now moves far less and reduces knocking on the heat shield

On Easter Sunday morning I took a drive out to the Malton Big Breakfast. First time for me but well worth the early start, some really nice cars on show. In the afternoon drove downto the Squires café Ford Meet for latest addition from Chris at Paintmodz. Replaced the gloss black washer jets with some body coloured mist jets

Before

post-38083-0-57224900-1428319089_thumb.j

After, I think they look good

post-38083-0-46797100-1428319144_thumb.j

And body coloured caps for the expansion tank, brake fluid, oil filler and washer fluid

Not cheap if you do it all at once. I had the engine cover done at a local body shop but the rest by Chris at paintmodz. Just google it and look at his Facebook page. He does quality painting and part ex's your plain bits have a look at my other thread it includes his phone number
