Trewithy
I will shortly be getting my new Fiesta and it is the first new car I will have owned. My question is; should I ask to look at the car before I part with my money. Is there anything I need to be aware of or do before I leave the dealership? MarksST
Of course you should look at the car before signing for it/handing over the money. Make sure you are happy with it, check for scratches, marks, colour match, general fit and finish.
London's Finest
Also, check the fluids and make sure to check it has every option that you chose.
roocat
My ST I bought through drive the deal is due soon. It's being delivered as the dealer is pretty far away and also I would need to pick it up on a weekday, so I'd lose a day's pay etc. Where do I stand if something isn't right once it's been delivered?. Can I get it sorted at a local dealer if there's anything wrong with the car? Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
MattDRX
Warranty work can be done at any ford dealer, they claim the labour back from Ford.

BHeart
As already stated by other members, you don't need to ask to look at the car; you check the car over inside for general fit and finish, including the seats, carpets, door panels and headliner for any marks and don't forget to check under the bonnet, and in the boot space for the repair kit or, spare wheel and tools if you chose that option. Also check all round the car outside; stand back from the car and walk around it ensuring that the doors, panels, boot door and bonnet all line up and check for scratches/marks on the body paintwork, alloys and tyres - if you have alloys fitted, make sure the sales person show you the wheel locking nut. If you are not sure about how something works, ask for a demo and if your mobile has bluetooth, get the salesperson to pair your mobile with the car and, if you have the satnav option, ask for a demo it and put in your post code so that you can try it out on the way home. It really should be a great day when you take delivery of your new car but don't let that blind you from checking your car over, as above and do this before you sign the paperwork or hand any money over. Take your time when looking over your car because, once you leave the dealership and you discover a problem then, depending on what the problem is, it will be very hard for you to prove that it was done before you drove off the forecourt so, I would advise you to take a second pair of eyes with you when you check the car over. I know it must all seem a bit daunting but you'll be fine. Good Luck, have a great day and enjoy your new car. :)
Zico
Definitely check everything that you ordered as an option is there. I had a look round and checked for the spare wheel etc. but still ended up driving the 105 miles home and found no sign of the locking nut :(. I've not heard back from my email sent on the 4th so I'll have to give them another chase. Perhaps by coincidence, a letter turned up from the dealer today following up on the sale asking if everything was ok and giving the name of the manager if I needed to contact them for anything. I'll give the sales person 1 further email and if they don't get back to me then the manager will be getting a call.
MartynS
The two times I've done it now I made a list of all the things to check before leaving the dealer as I knew I'd forget something otherwise! In addition to all of the optional extras (and things that should be standard like the sony radio) I had the handbook, service book, 7 day insurance cover note, 2 keys and the fuel funnel.
