mikepreece
Hello chaps, I am thinking of getting rid of my Focus MK2 1.6d (I dont do enough miles and I keep having issues with the DPF) AND i AM LOOKING AT A mk3 1.0l Edge or Zetec. Obviously, the 1l is great on fuel economy and cheap car tax, but can anyone advise if this car has any known issues? I will probably do about 10k miles a year, mainly around town/sort miles. Celticfan
I've had my mk3 Focus Zetec S about 5 months now and it's been brilliant. I had two 1.6 petrol zetecs before this one and although they were great cars, this one knocks spots off of them. Mine is the 125ps which has the 6-speed box but from what I read when I was looking the 100ps with the 5-speed is fine if you're mainly town driving.

iantt
nothing major on the ecoboost 1.0. coolant hose from expansion bottle to turbo can leak, and hego sensor fault, both these are rare though. nothing much else rearly. mine on 35k , nothing to report so far. go for a zetec. alexp999
If you can, the best engine and box combo is the 1.0 125PS Zetec as that nets you the 6 speed gearbox. My mum has that in an estate and its a lovely car to drive.
mikepreece
I now have a 1L Petrol, I did 75 miles on the motorway, averaged about 70MPH and got 45MPG, anyone know how I can improve this? Thanks
IINexusII
45mpg is fine for that engine on the motorway?
iantt
All depends on driving style, motorway traffic, roadworks with av speed cameras, etc, wirh all mentioned it reduces my avrrage speed , so I get 58/60mpg on 135mile trip on m5/m6 . But no traffic at 70ish I would expect more like 45/
