I hi lovely forum folk, I have just bought a 2010 fiesta titanium mk7 which has bluetooth. I'm reading a bit about voice control here and other places. I have a Samsung s5 what does 'voice control' mean for me? I know I can take calls through the Speakers so effectively have hands free receipt of calls but should I have the ability to say 'call mum' or whatever and have my phone do it?

Isn't it only the newer fiesta that have voice control via sync? In your stereo controls on the steering wheel, is there a button in the middle with a face and 2-3 lines on it? That's what you press then say the command.

Yeah I have the little guy symbol on the indicator stalk :)

It should work then, when you connect your phone the display will ask you to download your phonebook. Along as it does that when you press the button you can say "phone mum" etc.

MarksST that's what I was thinking though, that it has hands free reception but not sure what else. I think I may be able to say 'call Adriana' and it might do that but I think sync might be another level of control altogether where you can send texts and it will read them out etc . That's what I am trying to establish

Paramanic you've probably got sync but I don't think mine has.. When did it become standard on fiesta? What year?

If it also has hands free calling ( my 2010 Zetec did), then you need to create a 'voice tag' for each contact you want to call (the user manual tells you how to do this).

Try and keep to one name in your contact list - I.e 'mum' or 'John', as in 'call mum'.

I think sync became standard 2009/2010 models onwards?

I have a late 2008 (58 plate) mk7 that wasnt registered until 2009, it has bluetooth with voice module but not ford sync. I recall reading somewhere that sync came along in 2009/2010 models

Thanks for all your answers so far. To sum up, MarksST is suggesting 2010 a titanium mk7 wouldn't have sync because it didn't come in until the facelift in 2012, while Jazman23 says he may have read that sync came along in 2009/2010 models. Anyone else confirm which is going to be correct?

Sync came in with facelift definitely

No, the 2010 Fiesta models like Zetec and upwards, did not have Ford SYNC but most had "bluetooth with hands free calling including voice control and USB".

My 2010 Zetec had the above I was able to make hands free calling/answering but, to call family and friends hands free, a voice tag for each contact needs to be created as stated in my last reply. The radio station could be changed and CD tracks could also be chosen using voice control.

And, if I remember correctly, to make a call, change the radio stn or choose a CD track, you would press the little voice icon which was on the left hand stalk and, to answer/end a call, you pressed the "M" in the middle of the left hand steering wheel buttons.

The OP should put his reg number into Ford Etis and check if features mention the following:

BT/VC Phone Interface + USB, Voice activated module - British and, With AV jack and USB

If he has all of the above features then, unless any of the module are faulty, he should be able to set up hands free calling and voice tags. This was a great system for it's time so I'm hoping that the OP does have these options.

BHeart I've gone to Ford Etis and put the VIN in (there didn't seem to be anywhere to put the reg) and it tells me I have the features you've mentioned! Thanks!

Sorry Rob, I misread your last post.

You only need to enter either the reg number OR the VIN and, you apparently have ALL of those features so, providing you mobile is compatible with everything I've mentioned, you should be able to set it all up - it's in the handbook and I'll post the page showing how to create voice tags later if you can't find it?

In the top left hand corner, press on vehicle and it will bring up a field box to enter the reg number and/or, the VIN.

Whilst you're in Etis, have a look to see what other options/features you have. i.e. auto h/lamps and wipers, parking sensors, spare wheel, folding mirrors etc.

That's strange, it's saying its a Zetec-S , is that just the way the titanium version is referred to on Etis BHeart?:

Fiesta 2008-2012, 1.6L Zetec-S PFI VCT (115PS),

Sea Grey (Metallic) VIN Number: WF0JXXWPJJ9D43653

Registration Number: WU60UTOFirst

Registration Date: 27.08.2010

Registration Country: GB

Type Approval Number (TAN): E9*2001/116*0069

Yes that is weird. It does not normally mention the Fiesta model type on Etis, but it defo says 1.6L Zetec-S for your car but the Zetec/S did not come with cruise control as standard and the Titanium is a different model. I think the Zetec-S PFI VCT (115PS) is referring to the engine.

Check the Registration Document on the second page, it shows the model type there and it should say Titanium because C/Control came as standard on the Titanium and above.

You have the 'spare wheel option' and you also have auto lights/wipers and cruise control which are standard but I'm sure the folding mirrors were an option in 2010?

The page to create 'voice tags' is 193 of the March 2010 Drivers Handbook.

With regard to Ford Etis, you need to press the HOME tab in the top left corner and then choose preferences half way along and then update the language and country to English UK and it should then show you field boxes both reg and VIN.

Just noticed something else on your Etis details, your car was first registered on 27th August 2010 and that would have been a "10 plate" and the "60 plate" started on 1st September 2010?

The car was built on the 1st December 2009 but, it was not registered until 28th August 2010?

Got the reg input box thanks!

"Check the Registration Document on the second page, it shows the model type there and it should say Titanium because C/Control came as standard on the Titanium and above."

BHeart, thanks again for your continued support; I can't see where to get the Registration Document, when you say 'second page' do you mean using the tabs along the top, its not like there's a 'next' button.

The page to create 'voice tags' will come in handy thanks!

How could this be explained? Maybe because it was assembled in the Valencia plant in Spain, slowly shipped and then bought in late August, with the docs filled out with the date 27th Aug, which was a Friday, then it was Saturday Sunday then bank holiday Monday and then you're into September, so possibly the plate was made then ? ? Is this something I should really worry about?

Dealer ordered it in December but didn't sell it till August.

My old ST was 1 year old but sold as a new car. Dealers order a load of cars then store them until sale time. While there sitting there there not registered until a customer comes along
