arrowminty
Hi, The front Number Plate on my Zetec 1.6 has fallen off, luckily onto my drive. Its got stickty pads on the back of it but it doesn't seem very secure. Shouldn't it be rivited or something. The car is under warranty...what's my best course of action?. mjt
Sticky pads are a standard way of attaching numberplates these days and if done properly are very secure, in fact it can be quite difficult to get them off. It sounds like yours weren't prepared properly and/or the wrong type of pads were used. If you buy pads that are stated to be for number plates, then make sure the surfaces are really clean and degreased you'll find they stick like the proverbial . . . . Alternatively you can buy numberplate self-tappers with coloured caps and drill the bumper and plate.
TomsFocus
If you get thicker number plate pads they take up slight curving of the bumper, I haven't had any plates fall off since using those...had quite a few come off with the cheap skinny ones that are usually supplied with replacement plates! arrowminty
Thanx for the replies....i'll see if i can get the proper pads and restick it. Where would be the best place to get them and any idea of the cost?. :)
TomsFocus
About £3 in Halfords, much cheaper on eBay, depends if you can wait for postage or not. These are what I use - http://www.halfords.com/motoring-travel/number-plates/number-plate-accessories/number-plate-fixers-6mm-adhesive-spacer-pads
