Cmaxer
Probably asked to death but here goes, i just got a 2008 1.8 tdci c max, it has an aux in port under the armrest near handbrake, when i plug in my iPhone using a 3.5mm jack cable, having pressed the aux button on the stereo nothing happens, there is no sound from the phone at all, does that aux in port have to be activated or am i missing a connection into the back of the stereo? i've attached the picture of the stereo and the aux in port also. Rod_FOC
In the absence of any other replies I'll throw in some general advice/suggestions to maybe help you: Have you wound the iPhone headphone volume up to max (or told it that it is line out you want, if that's an option when you plug in the cable to it) ? Have you checked the 3.5mm jack to jack cable works with the iPhone on a home hi-fi or powered speaker? With the car radio not at high volume level just pushing in and out the jack plug on the Aux input should be heard as crackling/popping ... holding a finger on the pin(s) of the lead (when plugged in) should make a humming noise... If not that would suggest the Aux input socket is not connected to the radio?
Cmaxer
Hi volume up Max on both phone, iPod and stereo. No crackling at all when jack going in or out. If the input is not connected is it just a matter of taking stereo out and plugging it back in?
jeebowhite
it could be a number of things, bad aux in port, disconnected from the rear, or a bad jack lead.
Cmaxer
Ok so took the stereo out and connected the cable I got into the back and other jack into the phone and it works, lots of hissing noise though. Can't get that aux in port out to check it. Is there a thicker size jack cable ?
jeebowhite
Not sure on the cable but Aug tends to hiss anyway as it's the device that amplifies the signal before it hits the cable
Cmaxer
Any idea how to remove the aux in port ? That part of the centre console seems to be separate.
jeebowhite
You need to disconnect the wiring, I think if you get underneath it's a connector block then you l Pull that from the aux and they are separated
Cmaxer
Hi underneath the console ? That's the problem it's completely stuck down, looks like previous tried to take it off also.
WES180
To remove the console there are fixings hidden underneath the cup holder and rear cubby hole. The rubber linings are removable and then you will see the fixings underneath so you can lift the console out to check or remove the aux port.
