JW1982
The focus MK2 does not have a VSS. The speed is calculated by the BCM (brake Control Module which is mounted on the ABS pump.) and distributed to the other modules which need the speed signal over the CANbus network. A defective ABS sensor or an incorrect ABS sensor signal should generate different DTC codes. Personally I would suspect the BCM/ABS module itself or a wiring problem.

jeebowhite
I had a similar issue on the CMAX, iot was the short loom from the main loom down to the ABS sensor that was at fault. Replaced for £55 and done and dusted.
landy39
just an update ....... it was the front right impulse ring that was at fault ..... i used ConfigELM and it came up with C1142 Wheel Speed Sensor RF Tone Ring Tooth Missing Fault ...... while i was in the area i changed the front wheel bearing also as it was growling abit ....... light out all good.
