kevb123
i know its only 2006 1.2 fiesta but is this normal? if i slightly touch the accelerator (v light) the car will pick up speed slowly and engine sounds nice but if i press the accelerator the engine sounds rough and don't get any more power. also it sounds rough until going fast eg i have to change at 3000 rpm or sounds like its labouring. is this normal small engine behaviour? thx
CharlieUK
Well, I've got a 2006 1.2 aswell and I know what your talking about! I always thought it was me, I even went to the extent of replacing the air filter, cleaning out the cat, changing the oil, but it stayed the same. I presume it's something to do with the ECU. have you got a lead right foot and what's your mpg average? Dan62
I would suggest you look at the HT side of the engine first, could well be related to a weak spark. Replace spark plugs and gap them to 1.0mm If you find water in the spark plug well seal the windscreen washer jets to the bonnet with silicone sealant, if its the colour of coolant the core plugs are seeping. If problem persists change the coil pack and maybe the HT leads as a 3rd solution.
CharlieUK
My spark plugs are gapped at 1.3, just checked. Is it different according to manufactures? Sent from my iPad using Ford OC
Dan62
Yes. Most come pre-gapped at 1.3mm. Its easier and your less likely to damage the plug reducing the gap than opening it up. The Denso ITV16's come pre-gapped at 1.0mm.
MattDRX
Corroded plugs and or leads, probably mis-firing. don't carry on with it as the engine will get hot and cause more damage.
