labbyloodle
Firstly i want to say im really sorry if this topic has been covered already. I have tried to scroll through zillions here to see if anyone has had the same prob as me but havent managed to find anything...... ok so. Im a newbie with a problem! I brought my 2012 125bhp candy red zetec 3 weeks ago. Love her to bits but.....i want to get rid of the foam stuff in boot and want a space saver wheel. I brought one off eBay thinking it was the right one...checked manual etc but then my partner took it out to the car and noticed instead of 16" on my car i have 17"! ....now we have been told i can still use this but tbh would prefer the correct size on a spare......am i being anual and just keep the 16"..all will be ok if i use it or change it for 17"? Please help me! Also wondered where the best cheap place would be to get, once the tyre is in place, one of those infill bits to go around the tyre for the carpet to sit on? Thanks for any help anyone can give me. X
WES180
If you stand it next to your 17" wheel you will see its the same height as it has a higher profile tyre to make the rolling radius the same as your 17". I have just bought my Zetec S with 18's on and will be buying the same 16" spare as you as i dont like the foam pack either. I had to do the same on my Cmax. labbyloodle
Thanks for your reply but my partners has done this and says when up against the 17" the 16" stands and inch lower......tyre on car reads: 215 50 r17. space saver reads:125 85 r16
WES180
Partners? I wont ask lol. Got my manual in front of me and there are 2 listed 125/80/16 and 125/90/16 so the 90 would give you a slighty higher wheel when stood side by side. I personally would use the one you have and i will be buying one too.

WES180
Im going to nip to Fords this week to see how much the polystyrene foam insert is brand new. If its daft money then yes, will be calling breakers yards. Others on the Cmax forum i was on built their floors up with MDF boards but i dont like that idea and would rather source the correct factory parts. Stoney871
For the foam inserts here are the part (Finis) numbers and approximate prices- Insert 1 - Steel wheel - Finis 1705191 - £28.23 Mini steel wheel - Finis 1705192 - £14.40 Insert 2- Steel wheel - Finis 1705193 - £35.35 Mini steel wheel - Finis 1705194 - £28.23 You also need to take into consideration the wheel securing screw and that you'll need a jack and wheel brace adding as well.

JW1982
There is only one size of space saver spare wheel available for the Focus MK3. This same wheel is also used on the mondeo MK3, Mondeo MK4, Focus MK2, C-max MK1 and C-max/Grand C-max MK2. only the tyre size can be different. The original space saver spare wheel (installed at the factory) of my 2013 Focus MK3 has a 125-85-16 tyre. However I have also seen tyre sizes 125-80-16 and 125-90-16 being used for the Focus MK3 from the factory. Ford simply uses the tyres available at the time of production. The space saver spare wheel has a different diameter/circumference from the normal wheels. This is the reason why it is only suitable to use for a short distance and at a maximum speed of 50 MP/H. It is only intended to drive to the nearest garage/tyre specialist to repair the tyre or install a new tyre. If for some reason you need to drive a larger distance on the space saver spare wheel you should put in at the back of the car and not on the front. 2 different tyre sizes at the front can result in excessive wear of the differential in the gearbox. Using the space saver spare wheel will almost certainly result in an ESP fault and if the car has the DDS tyre deflation system also in a warning message about tyre deflation. Personally I prefer a full size spare wheel on longer trips. On a full size spare wheel you can drive as fast as you want as far as you want without any problems. For daily use I have the space saver spare wheel. For long trips I use one of my steel winter wheels.
WES180
Do you have both size foam floor raisers then JW depending which wheel your carrying or just the one for the spacesaver?
JW1982
I do indeed have both sizes floor raisers and wheel/jack assembly hardware. I took the ones for the full size spare wheel out of a scrap car for free. Most scap yards throw these parts away so they do not have any value for them. In my case space is not an issue. 99% of the time my boot is completely empty.
WES180
If you dont need the space and prefer the full size wheel then i think you should sell the space saver and floor raiser to me! ;)
