Lel
Hi Have managed to smash up my gorgeous 1.6 Titanium last night an am devastated, went into a supermarket car park and was momentarily dazzled by the sun. Smashed into a lamp post, all the front is bashed in, the radiator was leaking. It has been towed away, don't know whether the damage is worse than it looks?? Am so upset I loved my car am hoping it won't be written off. Any advice appreciated Lel
poohbear
So sorry to hear this Lel, Hope you are Ok. Remember you are more important than the car, cars can be fixed. When will you find out it if is a write off? Did you have gap insurance?
DNStuff
Hi Lel, I wouldn't have thought it can be a write off. I mean, how fast can you go in a car park? It might be an expensive claim, but that is your insurance company's problem, not yours. It's worth just doing a theoretical requote on your insurance so you know how much yours will go up by next year, if you dont have protected claims. Just so you aren't shocked by it when the time comes around and can save up sooner if you have to. Let us know how it turns out!
Air Hostess
Thats really sad,and sorry to hear, but as Emily said cars can be fixed and so long as your ok thats the main thing, although I chipped an alloy a few weks back and I was really angry at myself,so i dont know HOW you are feeling after what happened keep us posted on developements
johnnymac16
Your be surprised.. My friend drove a Ka into a bollard in asda last year and they wrote it of! Sorry to hear that mate! I know how it feels!!
Purdy fpv
Hi I am really sorry to hear what happened. At least you hit a lamp post and not another car. The whole thing would be a lot worse if another party was involved. I am sure that the damage looks worse than it is. I would say that it is highly unlikely that they will right off a new car. amyjaj
August really isn't a good month for us Fiesta owners. Is there someone out there that doesn't like us or somthing.

paulworthing
I would guess it will not be written off - its got to be something like 33% of the value ofthe car for them to write if off I believe . . .
Lel
Hi Thanks for all your replies, car is with the body shop now and will be assessed tomorrow, no I didn't take out GAP insurance but my insurers said they would normally replace a new car with a new car if written off. Not holding my breath though. Hubby thinks it looks worse than it is, as I hit it dead central said it was the "crumple zone" or something, doesn't appear to be damaged at the sides, was however leaking ? radiator fluid. To be honest I am hoping it can be repaired as after reading regularly on here that there is such a wait for 3 dr Titaniums. Will let you know Lel x

DNStuff
How do you do a theoretical quote? I had just accepted my renewal (due 1/9/09) a few days ago, will it affect this? Fill in the quote online, and where it asks you about accidents just tick box or fill in the field. It will be a fault claim. I'm not sure about your renewal to be honest. It's worth asking your insurance company though, because if you new insurance goes through without this incident opn it, and something happens in the future they may try to use it as a way of getting out of paying you. I'd ask your insurance company to be safe
Bashful
Sorry to hear that Lel, but as people have said, as long as you are ok. It probably does look worse than it is and hopefully they won't write it off. I smashed my 6 month old Ka and they had to replace a wing and a door - no question of it being written off. Lel
Whatever happens you are all absolutely right in saying that at least nobody was hurt and I am eternally thankful for that. Expect I am just feeling so annoyed with myself for what happened in a split second, but that an accident for you Lel
studly
I doubt it will be a write off but you never know, i went through a hedge about 4months ago and hit a small tree stump which killed the following: Bonnet, bumper,n/s wing, both headlights, radiator and other bits and bobs underneath and the repair bill for my insurance was £2860. If i ever see the git who ran out in front of me again i'll have to resist the urge to aim for him this time :P I was gutted seeing as it was only a month old at the time but at the end of the day it's only a car and accidents can occur in mere seconds, i'm still annoyed about it thinking back but take it from me it's not worth dwelling on ;)

studly
Glad to hear it's progressing ;) Mine took 4 weeks due to part shortages and having to have a radiator shipped from germany twice as the first one was damaged in transit lol. But i wasn't happy with the spray job on the bonnet edges so it was back in for another couple of days. My words of advice are to have a really good look around the car when it's ready and don't be afraid to say you want something re-done if your not happy with the repair. If your entitled to a courtesy car i hope you don't get a crappy corsa like i did........couldn't wait to get my fezzi back lol
amyjaj
Mine should be all fixed by next thursday (27th). It needs a new bumper and front wing. They mentioned to me about the door handle that broke last month, that ford was ment to fix. I'm hoping they can do it.

Hope the spray job will be ok, they are telling me approx 2 weeks but of course there is a bank holiday amidst that time. I can't wait to get my car back I seem to be seeing them all over the place now and mine is sitting there in the body shop lol. Thanks for all the replies.
