Temperature Gauge

Hi all,

I've got a 2004 ford focus. I've found that the temperature gauge doesn't move unless I turn the heater inside the car off. Even if I have it at number 1 and on hot air it doesn't rise. All fluids are fine and nicely topped up and no leaks. Could this be the sensor?

Is the radiator getting hot? Sounds more like the thermostat is stuck open to me.

Also how long are your journeys with the heater on? It will take longer to heat with the heater on, but should still get up to temp.
