Overhandzeus
Hi all, the wife has a 2011 fiesta Zetec and lately its developed a somewhat intermittent brake issue, when you apply the brakes it's as if you have to apply a certain amount of pressure then suddenly it's as if the resistance isn't as much so suddenly it brakes sharper, I think the best way to describe it is let's say when you first apply the brake the resistance in the pedal on a 1-10 is say a 5 then when you get so far down it becomes a 3 so where you are gradually applying the brakes it suddenly brakes sharper and you can noticeably feel it in the pedal, any ideas? gillyallan
To me, as a non mechanic, I was thinking air in brakes. Needing bled or fluid changed.
Overhandzeus
I thought that myself but as air is compressible I expected a more spongy feeling than resistance at first
gillyallan
Oh yeah. Actually reverse of what was thinking.
DieselPig
Sounds like grabby brakes, bit of pressure not much happens then wham you hit a brick wall? When was the last time the brake fluid was changed?
Overhandzeus
Yeah I suppose, it's as if suddenly you feel the pressure dissipate hence you suddenly brake harder and I don't know when it was changed as we got it in Oct last year, I'll start by changing it and go from there thanks
