2014 Fiesta Zetec 1.25 Issues

Hi, it's my first time posting on this site so I hope this is the right place to post this.

Anyway i've had my fiesta zetec 1.25 petrol for two months and have had a few issues in terms of a pulsation/vibration coming from the front end of the car and through the pedals. This mainly happens during acceleration between 2.5k and 3k RPM in 1st 2nd and 3rd gear and then when decelerating in those gears.

It is noticeably worse under load going down or up hill and the noise of the engine gets really loud trying to accelerate up a hill. Also sometimes when changing gears at higher RPM I can feel the clutch pedal pulsating as I bring it up after changing gear. You can feel the vibrations in idle if you rev up to about 3000 RPM both in neutral and in gear. it might also be worth telling you that when you start the car and leave it in neutral there is a buzzing/whirring sound that goes away every time you press in the clutch i'm not sure if it's connected.

I've got the car on finance and it still has Ford warranty so I took it back to Bristol street motors to check it over, the first time was a week after I signed for the car and once last week. The first time I took it in they said they couldn't feel any of the vibrations I was talking about, the second time they acknowledged the vibrations but said it's normal for the 1.25 engine to to this!!! Surely not.....? They also said that the noise in neutral is normal...

If anyone has a Fiesta with the 1.25 engine could you please tell me if you experience any of these issues or if it's not normal and the dealership are lying to me

p.s Sorry for the long post, just very angry at the moment haha

No such vibrations on my Wife's 1.25 engine, sounds a little like release bearing or clutch plate, what happens if you get it into top, at low speed and floor the pedal, does it build slowly or do the revs jump high?

To test the clutch, go for a drive, flat road, get into top gear as soon as you can at a low speed, then floor the accerator, if there is a problem with the clutch, the revs will rise quickly at first if the clutch is slipping, if speed and revs build slowly then clutch may be okay, but the rattle, you hear maybe the Clutch release bearing, in which case, you may as well fit a new clutch while that is changed anyway.

But as i said, no such noise on my wifes car, or rattle on clutch release.

Oh I understand what you mean the clutch doesn't slip it slowly builds up speed and the revs slowly build up as well so it's not slipping. So no vibrations from the front of the car whatsoever? why would the dealership tell me it's normal?

No vibrations on the wife's car, can't see why any dealer would tell you a 2014 build car having vibrations as normal, it's still under warranty with Ford, so take it to another dealer for second opinion. That would put your mind at rest incase this garage is fobbing you off, just tell new garage there is a noise and vibration don't tell them about other garage.

just took the car out for 10 minutes and it actually was hardly vibrating and the engine noise never got too loud, but what I noticed was I didn't really have to stop as there was hardly any traffic about but when i'm constantly stopping and starting that's when it gets noticeably bad. it's very strange!

Best to get it checked out by someone else , put your mind at rest then.

Yeah I suppose you're right, just wanted to hear from some people that have had experience with the 1.25 engine to see if it was normal before I went ahead and got a second opinion from another garage.

cheers!

Just read this, does anyone think this could be the problem?

Pressure Plate Improperly Balanced
Symptoms:
Vibration from engine/transmission/shifter
Possible Causes:
Improper flywheel counterbalance
Improper hardware
Clutch improperly balanced
Flywheel improperly balanced
Solutions:
Verify flywheel counterbalance, if equipped
Use proper hardware-shouldered bolts or locating dowel pins to retain pressure plate to flywheel
Replace clutch assembly
Inspect, resurface, and balance flywheel-replace if necessary

Two technicians had a drive in it today they both said it's engine resonance and its normal for fiestas to be like that

Have you had the clutch release bearing checked out? My father reckons that's what the problem is.

I'm so fed up with my local dealer, they keep telling me this is normal i've called 3 other dealers all telling me it's not normal. all they do is run a diagnostics and do a road test for 5 minutes even when I have told them numerous times it gets a lot worse when the car is warm and you do about 10-15 miles. They won't physically inspect the car and say that if they can't replicate the problem then they refuse to check it!!! I was told by an independent garage that this model doesn't have a clutch release bearing?? I did say it was a 2014 model over the phone. I absolutely hate driving this car and it's so frustrating being told "it's normal".

This needs sorting or i'm writing to head office!

You can email Ford Customer Care. You'll then get a complaint reference number and the complaint is taken more seriously. I have a long running complaint (December 22nd 2014) which still hasn't been resolved. It's been into dealerships 4 times up to now and I'm no further forward. I was told it was normal and that they'd put a computer on it which said so. I then made a video of the problem and the head mechanic had my car for a week (he used it as his own car) after that he agreed he could see the fault but if the computer says there isn't a fault he can't go against that. Then I took it to another dealer who knew what the fault was and replaced a part, but the car is still the same. They have now told Ford Customer Care that they've fixed my car because they've replaced the part, so Ford Customer Care have said that they are sorry that the problem has returned! The last they said was that they have to stand by what the dealership says (that it's fixed) but I can take it back or take it to another dealer and they will follow it up. Ford customer Care have helped in the sense that i can get to speak to the head person and that they'll get the car booked in quickly etc and when you speak to the dealership they seem to panic a bit more. At the end of the day all Ford dealers are franchises so Customer Care are limited to what they can do. I am trying for an exchange (but without losing any money) I am waiting for the Sales Manager to ring me.

You do realise that the post is over 7 years old ?

This thread started 9th May 2015 and was about a 2014 Fiesta which at the time would have still been covered by the manufactures warranty.
