paulworthing
Well I guess on the roads it is about who you can get away from rather than how fast you feel you are going.
Fraser.
I think the problem is that the engine is so smooth it doesn't feel like it's doing anything. I've driven a few similar or even lesser powered 16v engines where there's a much more noticeable kick in power when the second cam comes into action higher up the rev range. Maybe a remap and improved induction would give a more noticeable kick?
paulworthing
Or accept it is a fun car to drive and that it is not about out and out pace - how many have driven an old classic mini - hardly fast and was just so much fun you could not help getting out without a smile on your face when you went out to play with it! xxtrickzxx
as fraser says its alot to do with how smooth the engine is,its quicker than it feels,it took me awhile to get used to it as my last car was a focus st with 289bhp,the mountune adds a more noticible kick at 4000rpm

But I don't miss the higher tax and insurance that went with it though! ;)
andy64
Done a few miles on it now and started to have a play and see how quick it feels ok 0-60 in 9.9 secs is not neck breaking figures I know, but ............Anyway, put ya foot down and not a lot happens really does it, maybe I am just used to rally cars ..................... still I didn't buy it to race it ;) My Fiesta (1.6 Ti-VCT, 120BHP) seems quite quick - & it's definitely got considerably more "go" than my previous car - a 2002 Astra 1.6 16V, 100BHP which had only 40K on the clock when sold (official 0-60 of the Astra = 10.5 sec). The Fiesta's much more fun to drive too - feels almost like a sports car in comparison with the Astra. Plus it's around 10% more economical (in real terms & not per the optimistic trip computer..!) & road tax is lower. Can feel the engine open up at around 4,000 RPM... have already managed to surprise a few "tailgating - happy" boy racer types with it! Guess you're right though, it's all relative to what else you've driven - Fiesta's the most powerful of the six cars I've owned over the last 25 years, started out with a 40BHP (yes, 40!) 1977 Datsun 1.0 with evil brakes & handling, then a 73BHP Cortina 1.6 follwed by a 50BHP Micra 1.0 then a 60BHP Corsa 1.4 followed by the Astra.
