Fbs1000
Morning all. When on tick over and slight Rev from 600 idle to say 1000 I get a whirring whossing sound when it comes back down.as the turbo doesn't spin up until 2000 I disregarded that as the issue. It's still under warranty and took it back twice. Both times I've been told this is the characteristics of the engine. Anyone else had this noise?. Very noticeable when say driving through mcds drive Ie close proximity environments. Car seems to drive fine and only done 18,000 miles. Cheers all

adambell
Is it not just the turbo wastegate being in an open position to prevent any pressure surge if you were to accelerate at that time? Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC mobile app
Fbs1000
Hi Adam. Not sure mate. Thought the turbo doesn't kick in until 1.5 revs or 2000. So would the waste gate be the issue still. Unsure what the waste gate does to be fair bud.
adambell
Well the turbo runs all the time but the boost doesn't pick up until about 1500 rpm. However I would think the wastegate will be open to ensure there is no pressure surge when initially accelerating then it closes as the turbo spools up and increases power etc. Maybe you could make a video and put on here for everyone to comment on Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC mobile app
