j.beesley
Anyone know of any decent and cheapish 10" subwoofer?
salsheikh
i'd go with an amplified Vibe option as the amp is matched to it already unless you have an amp already. they can be picked up cheap from eBay! just seen this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VIBE-Slick-Bass-Pack-System-Slick-Pack-10-Sub-Woofer-Bass-Enclosure-/391148243339?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item5b1240898b

Hassen
Also consider JL Audio subs. I got this in my car and it's very good to my ears. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JL-AUDIO-10W0V3-4-10-SINGLE-COIL-300-RMS-SUBWOOFER-/121642428739?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1c52742943
j.beesley
Thanks for suggestion have been looking at JL audio ones just need something that will pack a punch as have amped my fronts as well
Hassen
No problem. That JL Audio paired with a suitable amp will pack a punch definitely. I got amped fronts rated at 80W rms and the sub is not overpowered. JL Audio have monoblock amps that are matched to the subs.
Hassen
Also, for your car, check out the custom fit subwoofer enclosure. I got one and highly recommend it.
j.beesley
My fronts are 75rms I think and I've got a good powerful amp. First time I've amped my fronts and it sounds insaneeeee and yeah I'm gonna get one I reckon just got to pick the right sub!
Hassen
Which front Speakers you got out of curiosity? I was like you and never had amped Speakers. The difference is staggering! So much clearer with better dynamics. The quality of the sound from the JL sub is impressive for the price. Have a read through the reviews and check out videos on Youtube. I've had other brands of subs but this is a different league.
j.beesley
Some fli component ones, not the best I know but I never planned on amping them and Halfords put the wrong price tag in so I got 2 pairs for 50 quid!!! Sold one pair and put the others in. Once I've got a new sub and custom enclosure gonna get some new comps I reckon
Hassen
Don't knock it when you got such a great deal. Lol. I got a set of Vibe Slick Speakers to start and like yourself, gradually upgraded when funds were available. If you're considering a higher end set of comps, do check out Focal as a brand. Different price points but you really can't go wrong with them. I got a set of Focal 165KR and I adore them :)
j.beesley
I'll bear it in mine cheers mate. Can't wait for this custom enclosure!
Hassen
Check out my thread for pictures of the custom enclosure with the JL Audio sub in place. Have fun and enjoy the journey.
j.beesley
Will do and I think what I've got in at the minute sounds great can't wait til it's all done! What music do you listen to if you don't mind me asking, makes a great difference knowing what it sounds like for different genres personally
Hassen
Indeed, the type of music does matter. I normally listen to mostly rock/pop/hip-hop. But I do listen to a wide variety of music from classic to heavy metal :) Lately, I found out with the upgraded Speakers, that with mp3s not well encoded, sound terrible. Most if not all my mp3s are at 320kbps. This has meant me to start listening to my cds again and the difference is very discernable. Case and point is listening to Chemical Brothers - Surrender album. It's been a bit of a revelation :)
j.beesley
Sorry about the extremely delayed response! I listen to rock/hard rock, metal, hip hop (old stuff!), dance/dubstep and more... I've got my heart set on JL Audio 10W0v3-4 sub and just wanted to know do you think 1 packs a punch enough in the sealed enclosure? Not looking for masses of bass just enough to set my Cypress Hill off;)
