Feels Like The Break It Being Pressed Alot

Hi.

So I've had my focus for a couple of weeks. Last night whilst on the motorway, the car started feeling like someone was tapping on the breaks every couple of seconds. After about a min, the engine light came on and the car became really sluggish. After continuing to pull into a layby, the car completely cut out. Diagnostics came up with nothing as after turning the engine off for a couple of min, the warning light had gone and car drove fine until it all happened again.

Any ideas what this could be?

Could be a few different things! I would guess it's related to the EGR or DPF though. When you say diagnostics what did you use? A handheld reader? Or an ELM Cable and FORScan?
