New Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor Owner

Hello everyone,

I'm quite new to this site and it would be great to meet some car like-minded people. My name's Phil and I own a Ford Crown Victoria P71 Police Interceptor. Biggest engine I've had being a 4.6L V8 so my wallet isn't going to like what's coming next.

Feels like eternity going through the import process but finally picking it up next week! Going to be turning it into a Florida Sheriff's car to give it bit of a unique touch.

Pics below show it before (as it was when I got it from Florida) to what I'm going to be doing it up as.

Thanks,

Hi!

Well that is a barge and a half!

There are a few on here who are loving the Crown Vics. Are you planning to show it? It will draw some serious attention!

Hi both, thanks for the welcome.

Cheers Goodkat, yep it's quite the beast, I'm pretty sure my friends have already given it all the nicknames under the sun.

Yeah I definitely want to get it out and about! I've booked a spot on the FOC stand at Ford Fair which would be cool.

I've got it just in time for the summer too! :D

You should change your user name to Buford T Justice! Or Smokey...

Thanks Steve! Glad it's got another fan :) same for me too, I've loved these cars since I was old enough to watch movies with American police car chases. I was quite lucky with the one I found, only got 23,500 miles on the clock.

Thanks as well Paul! £230 tax for the year, so a bit more than my old Mondeo ST TDCI.

Very low mileage, almost lower than my Focus. Must have been a more of a personal use car, or similar.

£230 tax??!! I pay £225, and I only have a 1600cc engine!! Unfair lol. Must be because its an import, otherwise it would be in the highest (£500) tax band I think.

Great cars, extremely reliable, and literally bulletproof. Only downside is that your wallet will feel the pain a bit - as they are thirsty!

Hope to see you around on the forum.

I asked the dealer and they sourced it straight out of service from being a reserve car for Washington DC Homeland Security. Was kept in an underground car park most of the time and only used by 'men in suits' or for A-to-B driving. So no rough, mean streets patrolling thankfully!

I was pretty surprised myself, but I think you're right as imports probably hit a limit on tax I guess.

They are good cars, super easy maintenance and simple repairs I've been told, so that's a plus. And yeah I've definitely got to keep an eye on how much I drive, otherwise my wallet will be getting lighter by the minute.

Hi, Ive looking at buying a P71 . Just an idea. How did you go about sourcing one, being as it's hard to view one due to its location . Also, how did you import it and what was the cost? :)

Always nice to be nice though!

I nearly fell for this too the other day, I realised at the last minute that this was a post from 2015.

May as well also welcome midssheriffphil as well now :-)
