driveshaft play

just been doing some work on the motor (MKII Focus) and noticed some play in the driveshafts, can anyone tell me by looking at the image link below as to whether the play indicated by the RED arrow is acceptable, I suspect it is but not 100% sure.

Hi Pete,

Your image shows the joint at the transmission end of the shaft. Lateral play at this end is designed to accommodate the changes in the distance between the transmission and wheel hub with suspension travel so is normal.

Thanks Mike this is what I was beginning to think, when I checked them i was gripping the shafts about midway and when trying to rotate them there was no play, which was good, just got a bit concerned at first about the play between hub and gearbox.
