InKontrol
I'm getting conflicting information on the internet at the moment. I blanked the EGR off last night and was wondering if it would cause an MOT failure? No engine management light has come on since fitting it.Model Year: 2011 Engine: 1.6TDCI DV6 Euro
Dee_82
your messing with emissions so technically it could be a problem but so long as your not pumping out smoke itll probably be fine. You cant even see it unless you take some of the car apart which they cant do and I doubt anyone going to pull out an endoscope to take a look on the off chance you did it. Mine passed with flying colours with it and after peeking in to the inlet manifold to see all the crap in there, you would be daft not to do it
iantt
Wether theres an egr or not or blanked or not is not a testable item , only the emmissions smoke coming out exhaust is testable, as for engine light, thats not a testable item either, so it can be on, off, bulb taken out
MONDEO TXS 2.2
My 05 Mondeo ST TDCi passed 2 M.O.T.'s with the E.G.R.V. blanked & a further 3 with it bypassed (completely removed ).

MONDEO TXS 2.2
I bought a bypass '' tube '' off e - bay, it replaces the E.G.R.V. - cooler pipe from exhaust left intact & is blanked where it now joins the '' tube '' as it would with a normal E.G.R.V. blank - if that makes sense ? ! :)
MONDEO TXS 2.2
A standard s/steel blanking plate can be fitted at the E.G.R.V. or the exhaust outlet on a 05 2.2 ST TDCi Mondeo.
InKontrol
Good news then. My exhaust is squeaky clean, i.e. when I start it I don't get plumes of smoke flowing out of the exhaust, and sometimes it spends quite a lot of time on the motorway so the DPF should be relatively clean too (64,000 miles). ajzetecs
Today i disconected pipe from left side of egr and squirted carb cleaner in while engine on tick over and has made more benefit than having egr blank on
mpr1956
Hi.. I have had my egr blanked for two mot's (same engine as yours) and the testers cared not a jot. (98000 miles and counting)
MONDEO TXS 2.2
The E.G.R.V. is closed at idle r.p.m. & also at W.O.T. Carb cleaner will only effect a temporary clean / fix.
