Focus Mk2.5 On A 12 Plate !?

Hi,

Quite new to site but seen something yesterday I thought was interesting. (might not be interesting to anyone else right enough :) )

I have a mk2.5 sport on a 61 plate and was under the impression that 61 was the last plate of the mk2.5 given mk3 started on 11 plate I believe. Obviously sport model was a run out model and I'm sure any other 61's I've seen have been sport model as well.

However yesterday I stumbled across an advert for a dealer near me selling a mk2.5 sport that is a 12 plate. Thought it must be a mistake and would need to be a mk3 to be a 12 plate so went to ad and checked photo's and sure enough its a black mk2.5 sport on a 12 plate. I entered registration plate in parkers valuation page and sure enough it is a focus sport registered in march 2012. Wouldn't think there will be many of them around?

As I say quite new to the site so not sure if I'm allowed to post a link to the ad or the registration plate of the car in question for anyone interested. However if you search in google images for "focus sport black" then you'll see picture of a 12 plate and link to ad about 11 lines of images down from top.

Maybe its common knowledge among others that there are 12 plates out there? but it surprised me as thought my 61 was on a last plate, especially given the mk3 started on 11 plate so that means there are 3 plates of an overlap!

Must have been a very late sale of leftover 2.5's

Must admit I've seen a couple of 61 plate 2.5's but never a 12 plate one.

The buyer of that one must have been mugged by the Salesman or it may have been a fleet/hire car.

Yeah it's fine to post a link, as the advert isn't yours. :)

Latest I've seen a MK2.5 is a 61 plate and that's a pretty rare sight.

Hi,

Was coming on to post ad but someone has beaten me to it. Definitely not my ad (think its a little bit overpriced myself-well according to parkers anyway would need to haggle it down a bit) but yes that is the car in question. As you say 61's are quite rare, mine is an SK61 and I have only noticed a handful of others,so can't be many 12's about at all. As I say until the other day I thought there were none.

Just a small independent dealership by the looks of it too, probably doesn't realise rarity of what he's got

The 6 months tax mentioned won't be transferable to the new owner.

This is incredibly rare, and a very interesting sight indeed.

From the pictures, it also has the factory travelpilot sat-nav, titanium style seats, and snowflake alloys. I thought sport was a relatively 'low' trim-level.

Glad others found this interesting too.

Sport was a decent level trim in mk2.5,essentially a run out model in 2011 (and 2012 obviously!) based on zetec trim with plenty extras to sell off old models as a value alternative to new model mk3,with lots of extra equipment to make it easier to sell. Not sure about pre-facelift sport-might be something different altogether. My Sport is identical to car here (except is a 61 plate and white in colour instead of black) has the same SatNav/Titanium seat trim/mini ST alloys etc, also includes things like auto lights and wipers as extras too. It seemed well priced and equipped compared to more basic early model mk3's in similar price range at the time of buying.
