Polisher Advice

Hi guys,

Looking at a polisher for the car and trying to figure out the best and affordable way to do it. I need a polisher with some grunt, but u can't afford several hundred quid. Likewise, I struggle with the idea of powering by mains as I have nowhere I can reach a power socket from on our road.

So, I saw item 321685150142 on eBay, a silverline 240v 110w orbital polisher for 22 quid. First off is it worth it?

Secondly, I'm looking at the idea of 12v to 240v converter so I can power it from the car.

Viable or not?

Anyone got any suggestions?

Whichever brand you buy make sure it's D.A. ( Dual action ).

I thought about that but for bodywork repair your better with standard, where da is better for maintenance

DAs are much better for beginners as they reduce the chances of hologramming. But at the same time they take longer to achieve an equal finish :)

You said '' polisher '' James - D.A.'s are better for polishing, you didn't mention bodywork repair ! :)

Filler is good for body repair - so I'm reliably informed . . . :)

Thanks guys and yeah touche on the polisher front lol. I need something for a combo of maintenance but to start as repair. As for the filler, there's no major dents like that lol, but scratches, chips, stonechips etc.

I brought one off eBay last year, came with a whole host of buffers.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Polishing-Machine-Polisher-Sander-Buffer-1400W-Tool-Box-XXL-Big-Sponge-Set-/221707761725?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item339ecff83d

For the money it's pretty good, variable speed and spares set of brushes.
