Car Wash Rant!

Hey Guys,

So I have recently bought a Mondeo Titanium X Sport and have spent over £70 on car wash and mini valet and nothing good has happened. In fact I had a wash today and they ended up scratching my bumper!

What should I do?

1. Buy a portable pressure washer

Good Ideas Portable 12V Car Pressure Washer With Built-in Soap Bottle Attachment by Good Ideas http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00V4VKWMK/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_vuEIvbM4G930C

And try and attempt myself.

Or

2. Go for full Valeting? Cost around £100

With both options am not sure, more sceptical on point 2 as am worried it will be another job without any care or pride in the job.

What do you guys recommend? And do you know any good valeting or car washes in and around East London that will defo do a good job and look after the car.

Please help and advice

Thanks

I don't trust any car wash because I heard lot of bad things like what happened to you. I wash my car using two bucket.

Defo DIY...then no-one else is to blame :)

I use a snow-foam pre-wash then warm water with Autoglym shampoo.

Karcher K2 high pressure lance to clear the crud.

Attach the brush and stick the pickup tube in some Meguiars shampoo and get scrubbing.

Switch to vario lance to rinse off.

Job done.

Unless it's in need of a wax, then it's high pressure lance, followed by warm water & Meguiars shampoo and a wash mit, vario lance rinse off, microfibre towel dry and then on with the tech wax.

Having seen what a few of the car park washers do to cars I wouldn't let them clean my push bike let alone my car.

Either do it yourself or pay a professional detailer to come around to your house and do it (which is rather expensive)

I'd recommend a nilfisk Titan pressure washer. Inspired Automotive snowfoam. Then their detailers choice shampoo with a lambs wool wash mitt, followed by hand drying & sealing the paintwork. I use the above products amongst many with my detailing buisness :)

Hi Flame,

Would you have links for those? The problem is I may not be able to connect the main lead. As I live on a maisonette 1st floor so no access. Any suggestions?

I can provide the inspired products at www.yorkshiredetailing.co.uk. if you're a FOC supporter there is a 5% discount in the discount area. I got the pressure washer from Argos for £99.

+1 for Nilfisk. I bought a C-110 but returned it (not powerful enough) and got a C-120 instead.

If mains water is an issue, I believe the later Karchers can use water from a container instead. If its the power lead....extension cable :)
