Splodge
Hi all, Have a Zetec Focus, 09, 1.6 TDCI which I bought earlier this year but unfortunately a con rod has exited through the engine block, probably linked to a turbo issue, possibly arising from an earlier blocked DPF. Damn shame. After much discussion with my mechanic have decided that it is not worth sticking another engine in and there are too many dodgy recon guys around that I don't trust that route. Could anyone here advise me on the best way of realising any value left in the car? Breakers aren't offering much but she is in excellent cosmetic condition, immaculate metallic black paintwork/upholstery etc. Haven't found any yet, but are there any specialists ford breakers around that would offer me something reasonable? Many thanks, m.
stef123
I would get some good pictures of the car, inside and out then stick it in the for sale section of the forum. Personally, if I had the money its the sort of thing i wouldn't mind buying.

How much have you been offered by the breakers btw? I've bought quite a few cars in need of repair on eBay and gumtree, so I guess that is your best option. Make sure you point out the good points but be clear on the fault as well and someone will buy it. :)
Dee_82
another alternative is to break it yourself, if you have the room youll find the individual parts price far outweigh the car value, eBay everything. ECU, Cluster, gearbox, wheels, doors, tail gate etc, just depends if you have the time and space to do it.
Goodkat
As Dee82 has said, breaking it yourself will get you the best return, however it will come in in pieces instead of a lump sum. There are people/back street firms who would buy your car as-is, but they will only offer bottom dollar as they will still need to put another engine in, and a second hand car with a second hand engine is never going to be worth as much as an original. How much would it cost for a donor block, and to drop it in? Can't the current block be rebuilt? Sent via the 'Clacks' GNU STP

Splodge
Thank you to everyone who has replied, wish I had the space to break it myself, but I guess I'll advertise here and see what happens. Cheers, m.
