colshyr1970
on my recent return from Glasgow, i had a look at where you fill it up as i was going to put in some more redex. however, the metal plate that the nozzle pushes down wouldnt move. anyone else had this happen? also, should it have a petrol cap on?, i got told when i bought the car that it doesnt need one thank you
Affix
If its a capless fuel thing then it doesn't need a cap. There should be a little funnel in your boot in a little stowaway door on the right hand side.

Micro
on my recent return from Glasgow, i had a look at where you fill it up as i was going to put in some more redex. however, the metal plate that the nozzle pushes down wouldnt move. anyone else had this happen? Wouldn't move to put the redex in? You need to use the correct funnel to open it (its only designed to open for the correct fuel nozzle to prevent misfuellings and water ingress)

sonic113
yes as stated above it must be the ford "easy fuel" fitted which I personally find very handy. I too had to buy a the special funnel separate as I lost my original one but got another from the bay. I use it if I'm adding anything like redex ect, but at the pumps the petrol pump will open it and or vice versa if its a diesel.
Dee_82
Careful if you have an 58 plate or older, the filler pipes are not the best design for use with the plastic funnels, from 2009 onwards they changed the way it works slightly and its much better You can tell by looking under the car, there is a small black tube which connects to the rubber boot surrounding the filler pipe (collects dribbles when filling up,) but on the older design there is also another tube that connects to the underside of the filler pipe its self right towards the top, both join together in a Y shaped tube which then clips on to the bottom of the filler pipe before it bends 90 degrees to the tank. It just dumps the fuel on the floor, the wee tube just stops it making a mess of everything. Anyhow, replacing that filler pipe if you bugger it up by using the funnel incorrectly will set you back about 50 quid for the pipe and 150 for the labour, the whole rear subframe needs removed so be careful when using the plastic funnels with the older design, it can slip in and break it the insides of it.

Jon Bhoy
Great timing this post.I got given the funnel with the car docs but wasnt explained to me what it was and just thought it was a handy wee thing but i have funnels at home so ditched it. Few weeks ago car ran a bit rough on idle so someone recommended trying a bit of Wynns Injector cleaner.Paid £8 at Halfords and went into the car park.Had not long filled up so thought i shall empty it in.Bottle had a long neck so thought all would be well...........within seconds of pouring there was none in the tank and everyhing on my trainers!Had no idea why until the good folk on here enlightened me. Bought a funnel and it arrived today.Off to try another bottle of Wynns tomorrow, and have bags wrapped around my trainers ready to go ;-)
