mitch84
Hi Not been on here for ages! I'm looking at p/x my focus 1.6tdci titanium (2010) for a mk3 titanium navigator 1 litre ecoboost (125). Am i making a mistake in terms of performance? I know mpg will be slightly lower. Anyone with this engine can you tell me what it's like for overtaking/uphill performance as I'm still a bit undecided. Thanks
alexp999
The 1 litre has a surprisingly good pull for its size, my mum's managed zigzag hill near Shaftesbury no problem. I would say it is faster in terms of performance than the 1.6 tdci, although probably hasn't got quite the same amount of physical pulling power, if you wanted to tow for example. Having said that, my mum moved from a 1.6 hdi (same engine Ford use), 206, to the 1.0 125 ecoboost Focus, and loves it, much better to drive. Have you test driven one?

STUG38
I recently moved from a mk2.5 1.6tdci to a 1.0 100ps focus titanium navigator. Im over the moon with it. Plenty of power for such a small engine. You will be surprised.
Guest
I moved from a 200hp SEAT Leon to the 1.0T Ecoboost 125 engine and even I am happy with it... Quite alot of guts to a small engine!
mitch84
think I might buy new soon hopefully, Im thinking about a zetec mk3.5 I'm wondering about a few things though. Does the zetec have climate control and auto dimming mirror? Im not to bothered about most features but I do like auto dimming mirror/ climate control and satnav. I will be adding sync2 dab/nav system, but Im not sure if the above is standard, if not can these be added as separate options without paying full price for the option packs with things you dont want? I would also like rear privacy glass but I dont want all the other options included in the appearance pack like 17" alloys.... thanks
alexp999
You only get manual aircon on Zetec, but it is better than the old twisty dials now. No auto-dimming mirror as standard on Zetec, but you can add it with the driver assistance pack. Privacy glass is currently only available as part of appearance pack on Zetec. Do you think titanium would be better as If Im getting the sync2 system I think that can control climate unless of course it can still do that with the manual climate. alexp999
It is definitely worth weighing up the cost of Zetec + options vs a Titanium. Titanium has a nicer interior, soft touch door panels, ambient lighting, etc.
mitch84
yeah thanks, looking I think it makes sense to go for a titanium as the zetec is missing the features I like such as climate control/ reverse sensors. Having Ford privilege will help as well. I think you get metallic paint free with that scheme as well as a good saving of about £1700??? alexp999
Looks that way, for those lucky enough to qualify: http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/72659-new-privilege-offer/

Rich hi Well customising a New focus Titanium with a few options such as sync2 navigation I think I could get one for around £14000 currently, that's with ford privilege and p/x my focus which was valued at £5000 the other week at Fords. I might leave it for now anyway, I really want the new focus 1litre but Im not sure Its worth it as my current focus has all the gizmo's and has only got 35'000 on the clock. Think I should get some more out of it.
SNC
The 1.6 has 30+bhp less power and only 15nm more torque so you're getting more power, lighter car (lighter engine) and almost the same torque pulling power. If your motorway cruising all the time you're going to loose some economy but you can't loose less mpg going from a diesel to a petrol car than going to the ecoboost petrol car with such decent power. I have the Fiesta version of the focus your looking at ( a little lighter again) and it was gret fun already before I got it tuned. I had to take my Giulietta for a service 40 miles motorway round trip, took the tuning box out of the Giulietta and my partner followed behind us with the tuning box (max settings) pushing it to 155bhp/236nm (so we didn't have to sit in the dealership for a half a day) and the Giulietta managed 68mpg avg and the Fiesta managed 50mpg avg. Not bad for a petrol at all but around town the fiesta gets slightly better economy.
