Guest
Any thoughts on the following? I have had a very hard year, and don't want any more grief, so I have agreed to pay for the following against legal advice from work, who wanted me to refuse car, hire another and pursue through small claims! (don't need stress) 2009 1.6 Zetec 40k on the clock. I booked a major service £195 and MOT £30. All fine, passed MOT But, they called me to advise they bust one of the rear studs off in the hub, and needed to fit another, non Ford one for £190 + VAT So, I'm basically paying double to have a Ford stamp in my service book. Would you have paid?

mjt
My first reaction is that if they broke it they should fix it without additional charge but I suppose it depends on their small print.
Guest
That's what work said, they clearly air wrenched it off, claiming nearly six years old, wear and tear and were willing to fight it plus storage charges. They are getting a full review in works magazine (4260 readers)
Stoney871
They broke it and expect you to pay to fix it? Cheeky beggars.

Guest
I just spoke to the service manager, just to say I wasn't overly happy, I mentioned my late father used to run a Ford dealership about 3 miles away, he asked his name (obviously same as mine, went quiet and told me he would do all he could to make me a happy customer? Nothing further, so will find out tomorrow I suppose.

blue flash
Same thing happened to my nephew,(at local garage) but after chatting to the owner they did agree it was the fitter's fault and changed it foc.

Focu5
To be honest mate, I would have expected them to have replaced it instantly for free before I even arrived back at the garage. They broke your property there's nothing else to discuss.
Guest
they did good in the end, replaced all my bolts with missing chrome caps too. On a side note, what do they do with the clutch on a major service? Mine is light as a feather now, feels much better than before, bit even feels lower? No mention of it in the service docs? I can kind of see their point, when I bought it, it had 4 new tyres and six of the caps had sheared off. the service guy said it took 3 of them and a breaker bar to remove the wheel nuts, I think the tyre fitter is to blame here.
