I Have Lights!

Hi,

Used the car this morning (Ford Zetec) felt a strange rumbling under my brake foot and two lights came on. The ABS and one that looks like a tortoise. Both yellow/orange. I know that the ABS prevents skidding but

a) Does this prevent me from driving in dry weather?

b) What is involved to put it right (again!)

c) How much will it cost?

Thanks

Lea

Can you share a photo, as this tortoise light could be the engine management light?

ABS does indeed assist in preventing skidding, what it does is apply and release the brakes in fractions of a second, that is only when you are otherwise going to lock the brakes up. You can still drive, though it means if the light is on, when you do an emergency stop the ABS may or may not work.It could be just a bad reading on one of the wheels, but the system can be fully functional, likewise it could be suggesting the ABS module is dead.

Many thanks for your reply. Oddly enough on the last two short journeys the lights have gone off and then come back on again which leads me to think it's not too serious. However I will take it into the garage and get it sorted.

Thanks again

Lea
