SteGod
I have a 1.6 TDCi Titatanium X with DRL Headlights and my drivers side light has limited functions. My LED Day Running Light does not work neither does my side light but my headlight works along with full beam. If I have my light setting switched to auto mode, only my passenger side headlight will work but if I select my headlights both will work. My DRL driver light will come on, on ignition but soon go off although this is temperamental. I have had a service recently and a FORD engineer has suggested it is the headlight unit that needs replacing but this is a staggering cost of £285, can anyone shed any light on this issue or do I need to change the full unit? Thank you
alexp999
Surely the car is still under warranty?
SteGod
It is but it is not covered under the warranty.
alexp999
I would dispute that with your dealer. Or take it to a different dealer. No way should a headlight cluster need replacing after 2 years. Not of satisfactory quality
SteGod
ive spoken too two different dealers and they have both said the same thing.
alexp999
I would expect the warranty to cover it. Did you buy from one of these dealers? If you did, then I would remind them of the Sale of Goods Act and that the car clearly has not been supplied of Satisfactory Quality, for a headlight unit to have failed in only 2 years. Did you put a deposit or any part of the purchase on a credit card, or with a finance company/loan? You could also pursue this under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act. SteGod
i paid my deposit via mastercard and i have a finance agreement with them, i will be ringing the dealership today and arguing my case as it seems my 3 year ford warranty is a bit pointless at this moment in time
alexp999
You need to argue it out with the dealer, before you can pursue Section 75 anyway. Make sure you mention SOGA and it not being of satisfactory quality so they know you are serious. If they won't budge, then you could pursue it with your credit card issuer. But you will need an independent report, to confirm the unit has failed and has not lasted a reasonable amount of time. If you have to pay for the report, you can claim it back through consequential losses. If you have any independent garages or mechanics around, see if you can chat to them about it first, before paying for any investigative work or reports.

alexp999
If it comes to a section 75 claim, read this: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/section75-protect-your-purchases They also have a template letter, which I have used twice so far, and been successful. :)
