iantt
ha ha, nope, let them struggle ha ha . hope you not waiting? lol
alexp999
No, dropping it off first thing and leaving it with them for the day. It's fixed price supply and fit too :D They knew it was going to be a pain though as they asked if I was happy to wait for the chief tech to fit it. Hence the two week wait.
iantt
fitting is not the issue, removing the original is. hope your not expecting original in one piece.
alexp999
Yeah I've watched videos on how to fit it. They all cut the old one out, otherwise you have to drop the suspension.
iantt
yep, you allways get one smug git wanting the exhaust kept in only 2 pieces. suspension and subframe dropped!!
alexp999
I'm hoping the audio doesn't get blanked out on this, but it was a nice summers day (we do get them occasionally) and I was on some of my favourite NSL country roads when one of my favourite songs came on the radio in my Focus ST. 2 mins of bliss, before I caught someone up :)

alexp999
Thanks, I love the sound of it, I can actually hear it when driving now. Not "announcing my arrival" loud, but with the windows down and radio off I can actually hear the exhaust, instead of just 4 cylinder ecoboost clatter and a bit of sound symposer from the Speakers. It's like an exhaust symposer, really balances the engine sound nicely and now actually sounds like it has nearly 250 bhp under the bonnet :D I just need to get the adjustment tweaked slightly, clean the car and I'll take some better pics. Tom-B64
Looks really nice that, much better than the standard one! Need to get a video up of it now
alexp999
Yeah I will do, need to take it somewhere away from residents though. It is fairly subtle at low revs, but can really roar when the revs increase, lol.
Tom-B64
Just now, alexp999 said: Yeah I will do, need to take it somewhere away from residents though. I'd like to say mines very similar, nice and subtle and low revs but when you push the fun pedal it sure does bark Glad you like it, I know I'd be over the moon with your car and shiney new exhaust! alexp999
I will be even more so once it is tweaked. It is sitting slightly crooked, not the garages fault, I was there when he adjusted it for my liking and tightened it up, but what you can't see when it is up on the ramp is that one side of the dual tip is sitting slightly further out than the other. I didn't even notice until I went to take pictures of it. Shouldn't need much adjustment, but might mean taking it up and down on the ramps a couple of times, lol. Also the mountune induction kit is back in stock, so I should hopefully be able to pick that up next week :D
Tom-B64
Ah that's annoying, can't really seem to notice it in the pictures but I know for your peace of mind you'll need it adjusted haha! Do like the Mountune Induction kits but they're quite pricey for me, think I'll go with an Auto Specialists one when the time comes. Are you planning on getting it remapped?
alexp999
It is only very slightly out, I only noticed when I went to take a photo of the mountune logo on the tips and saw the gap between the logo and bumper is a few mm different between tips. I've already emailed mountune and they suggested the adjustment in the hangar positions should be able compensate for it. No plans to remap at the moment. I'm only sticking with mods that won't affect the warranty and I'm not a fan of the MP275. Plus I really don't feel it needs any more power, I know some people on the ST forum actually took off their bluefin maps as they found it drove better on stock map. The exhaust and induction kit should hopefully ease the restrictions and let the car breathe a bit better. I'm sure it already feels a little more responsive and willing to rev, but it might just be placebo, or me pushing the pedal more to make the exhaust sing, lol. Tom-B64
Well at least you can get it sorted, nothing worse than knowing something is sitting slightly awkward etc. Ah right that's interesting, I just had a look at the MP275 and can't believe the price of it. Just for 25 BHP? Most remaps get that plus more? Yea I'd imagine it's a lot more happy sucking in more air and letting it out more efficiently. Hahaha that last part may have to feature in my signature!
Guest
Looks good mate! Makes me want to get an exhaust done on mine, hate the standard little curved thing on the fiestas, is naff.
alexp999
The main difference with the mountune map vs others is that it typically lifts the entire torque curve and isn't just going after peak figures for pub stats. I think 250 is about the limit the chassis can take through the front wheels though, with overboost on WOT, it is a monster already. I think most maps just bring that in a bit earlier. I like the fact you can take it easy when you want to and it drives as sedately as any other Focus. I just wanted a bit more noise from the exhaust. The induction kit, is mainly for looks, it looks awesome, however I can see that the piece it replaces is highly restrictive though.
