hi, I own a mk2 Focus Zetec with the 17 inch 5 spoke alloy wheels. The rim around the alloy had a machined finish and over time it has peeled off and has made the wheels look awful. I wondered if anyone could help and if there's any way I can make them look better. Thank You

I've got the same wheels. Mine look a bit scabby around the edges too. I'm in the middle of doing up my Mk2 Zetec and my next big job is to sort out the wheels.

I considered paying to get them refurbed or repainted but it would probably cost £200 or so.

There are lots of videos on YouTube showing how to do it yourself and it doesn't seem too difficult, just time consuming.

I shall be going down a different path and plasti-dipping my wheels. I intend to do them gloss black. If all goes to plan it will cost me less than £50 and take less time than doing a full refurb myself.

If this is of interest I'll be recording progress in my build thread (link in my signature) and should be starting on the wheels next week.

This is the current state of my wheels.

It ruins the appearance of the car and when I look at the same wheels on other cars they aren't as bad. I've tried to clean them but nothing has worked. It's a shame because they're beautiful wheels.

The back wheels are a lot better than the front. My drum brakes look awful too.
