Fiesta St + Mp215 + What Else?

Personally I would go for the intercooler and charge pipe upgrade first. I hate having to wait for things, but I know the exhaust will be worth it. I was wondering about a possible engine-remap after the exhaust is on, any thoughts and any recommendations on where you can get it done properly;)

I'm building my car up to the MR230 kit some ill be waiting for that to be released, hopefully I'll only be needing the map by that time

The cat back won't help free any pony's up, so no point doing anything more then the mp215 map or superchip if your not worried about warrentee.. I will get the sports cat and mr230 when warrentee runs out on mine if I keep it... Superchip claim a higher end bhp, bit looking closely at the comparison graphs before and after graph there's nothing in it, as there Base car had more power, so properly just the fact the complanys used different dynos

Same here, when the warranty has run out I will be adding all the trimmings, but that's 5 years away for me! Who knows what I might be driving then. I've heard rumours about a Fiesta RS coming in 2017, that would be very very tempting.

Asked my friendly dealer about the rs last week and hasn't heard any official rumours. Did tell me about a new Capri that's coming soon though

Video is up, but it's probably the worst exhaust video ever with all the noise from wind and other cars lol. I tried to cut out the worst bits, but will probably do another video once I have a clip from a cold start and find a better place that's quieter.

Yeah I was I told it was only a slight change, but a different supplier as no-one in the uk or Europe could make the resonator. Not many manufacturers use that type of resonator. There's no conventional muffler, so shouldn't get a buzz or raspy sound from it.

What's it like windows down?

Very nice with the windows down, sounds like this kind of car should I think :). With the windows up the exhaust sound mixes nicely with the symposer and you sometimes get a really nice deep sound.

I've got about about 15-16months on my warranty, but the intercooler and charge pipes don't effect the standard warranty. Not sure on the exhaust though? But by the time I've saved up for everything it will probably be nearly out anyway!

Sounds nice I bet it's well nicer at full chat!

^ The exhaust doesn't affect the warranty. I know the downpipe & sports cat does but maybe you can get all the other parts towards the MR230 without affecting the warranty.

On a slightly different topic... I topped up my coolant today, now just under MAX when engine is hot, between MIN & MAX when cool, so, job done;) On thing I did notice earlier that I could do with someone shedding some light on is, when I stopped the car for a couple of minutes, then got back in and started it, there was an 'R' on the centre information display, next to the synced phone battery and signal icons. Anyone know what this R means? I'm trying to source it in the manual, but I reckon it would be quicker asking you guys;)

Oh, and Phil, the exhaust sounds NICE. Need to find a nice quiet spot and give it some beans for us though;)

Quick update, re the 'R' symbol. I'm thinking it could well be the symbol related to 'data roaming' on my phone, although I always have that switched off, so perhaps I am mistaken?

Interesting video, doesn't sound particularly loud to me on that. But seems to have a nice crackily kinda sound coming of compression. Can you hear the turbo hum coming through the exhaust?

Mountunes exhaust won't effect warrentee, others could. But unlike engine maps that will blow your whole engine warrentee, technicallyan aftermarket exhaust would only effect the warrentee of ford's exhaust.. Unless they can prove the aftermarket part effected the engine, but that could mean going g to court to prove it hadn't if ford said it did..

Mountunes Cat will void the warrentee, as the standard map can't correctly fuel for the reduced back pressure, so requires a more aggressive map, i.e the mr230 or equivalent, by by warrentee.

The cat and mr230 map is the only things left for me after tomorrow.

Got to admit a 4x4 fiesta rs sounds fun!

The Capri was a concept prototype last year, pretty strong links for it to be made.

^ I think the turbo might sound a bit louder with the new exhaust but I'm not sure, but I know someone else mentioned that you can hear the turbo more with the exhaust.

Yeah the turbo wouldn't make more noise as such, just some exhausts you can actually hear it humming at idle.. My mondeo tdci had a nice hum on idle, and you could hear it whistle through the exhaust at low revs. But was dead quiet, no louder then standard.

These low inertia turbos will never be particularly loud, as the main point of the silencer will come from the turbo itself, hence the noise reduction if f1 engines.

Oh just had mine done, first impression, very nice.

Nice, was that done at Mountune HQ?

Yeah up at HQ, amazingly quiet on the motorway can only be heard above motorway Road noise under acceleration. But much louder on idle then I was expecting from videos, with a nice deap lumpy sounding idle (revs completely stay able as should be) With the windows up the in car sounds are louder but more of being able to hear exhaust noise to the level of the symposer more then anything.. Windows down you notice the car with everything on becomes a bit of beast, much louder then I expected turbo, and boost and exhaust all much louder.. I like so far :-)

^ Yeah I'm impressed by how loud it is at idle too. When I park at work I always reverse up to a wall, and that helps to enhance the sound I think because when I opened the door with the engine still running I was greeted with a nice loud burble :). And yes it's amazing how they can make it so quiet on the motorway, it's the best of both worlds.

Some more vids of the exhaust would be gravy;)
Here's a quick one of mine with the stock exhaust, filmed on my iPad so sound isn't that accurate...

Haha I went through the town centre and even trying to drive it 'quietly' even just bearly touching the throttle heads would turn. Easily heard over the buses and trucks.

Idle videos really don't do turbo'd car exhausts any favours at all, as you don't much boost off load being pumped though the exhaust.

I really can't fault the team at Mountune HQ either, no false promises like you get with some tuners, friendly and polite. Everything they make and claim can be backed up too, and prices that will compete if not match or beat main dealers, if not your back lane farm type mechanic..

Yeah I knew the sports car and map would void the warranty.

Only need a few more things of the website and I have pretty much all of what they sell! Will be getting different brakes though.

Really wanting to get the exhaust now having seen a few people having it.

So any of you have a dash cam? If so maybe you could upload a video of he exhaust whist driving

Not got one myself. Tried to get a sound clip with my phone, will try again later.

I'll have to have a listen to some of the sound from my dashcam after getting the exhaust on. I don't know if it'll pick up the sound very well though.

Ok I placed the video recorder 3mtrs away from the exhaust so you can't really hear the idle properly, a much deeper sound then the recorder shows, but there's clips that show that nicely. Of load revs. Had to turn my iPad to full volume, in the flesh it's actually louder by half again. The amazing thing with this exhaust the harder she revs the quieter she gets! The idle note seems to clip the recorder, making a rasp that isn't present in real life.

Better idle version, max of 1500rpm blip of throttle.

^ Very nice. It's suprising how well the microphones in phones and other small devices can pick up the sound, because through my Speakers that gives a nice deep sound. You need to listen to it with some good Speakers or headphones. Did you say you have some other Mountune bits on yours Darren? I can really hear your turbo in that video but not so much on mine. Maybe I just didn't rev it enough.
