Hey anyone know any good radios for fiesta mk6? Want it to look good! Also I've been looking at a pioneer double din and the ripspeed dvd740! Also on Halfords website it says there is a ripspeed dvd740 and a ripspeed dvd740 refurbished! Anyone know what the difference is as I can't see any difference! Also the price is a remarkable difference! Just need a good looking radio that fits easy! And does the job! Thanks

Never heard of ripspeed. Personally I have a Pioneer AVH2600BT as a part of my ICE install

You can find more on my build log

It's a double din, yeah. Lenny uses its bigger brother and he's impressed with the Pioneer range too.

they've now released this year's range so you can either search around for the 2600 cheap, or go for a 3600

Looks alright! Are they touch screen? And which would you recommend just to replace the original radio as mine has errors which won't let me use the cd player and also need an aux cable as I'm using an fm transmiter at the moment

They're spot on

They're touchscreen. Have aux & usb in. Av in. Av out. DVD & CD player. bluetooth hands free & audio. Additional navigation module if you like. Carplay/airplay/mirrorlink. Fm radio with like 25 presets or something silly, maybe more. Am radio, MW radio if you please.

My build log shows how I've used most of the inputs available & located usb & aux etc.

That sounds good then! Would I be best with the one you have or the other one! I'm also thinking about maybe getting a sub and new Speakers later on!

Do you think it is easily as suitable for android as iPhone and also is the navigation easy to use and free as it might stop me from stealing my dad's sat nav

Gonna go check it out too! Thanks!!

I have installed a Jl audio 10" sub along with Focal PS165F in the front. My head unit powers nothing. Dedicated Amps do the work for it. I know I keep saying.. but I go into more detail in my build log! Haha :)

I don't yet have the navigation as I use Waze on my phone streamed to the head unit.

I haven't properly ran an iPhone through it as the adapters are twice as expensive as android (no surprise there) so I never bought one. Switched to android a few weeks after installing anyway

How much was your sub amp and Speakers Altogether? And is it easy enough to connect it up! Looking through it but it's so filled with stuff I'm getting lost haha! And ah right! Does the navigation run through your phone when connected(not your phone, like general) and can't you put in an aux or even use a usb? The fm transmitter is really good! I'm happy just not but want more! £20 from Halfords was well spent money

My sub was £50, monoblock amp 150, wood for enclosure £50, 4 channel amp £90 (from Hassen), Focal PS165F £198.

Wiring in my case, consists of RCA cables from the headujit to the two amps, then the high level cabling goes from the 1.) 4 channel amp to the cars iso connector, from there runs to the doors through the cars original loom 2.) Monoblock amp simply runs to the connector on the back of the subwoofer enclosure.

For power, I ran positive 4awg cable from the batteryx through the firewall to both amps. Earthed to the chassis.

Switched Signal wire follows the route of the RCAs from the headunit.

The head unit comes ready to plug straight in. But once you start wiring in the signal wire for amps, wiring handbrake bypass relays and adding to the original prewired loom things start to take More time :)

Still, the wiring itself is only an hour or twos work. It's the install of the Speakers, building the sub enclosure/false floor and the rest that takes the time. I'll get you some pictures tomorrow as I don't really have any on this phone

The head unit takes both USB & 3mm Jack. The connectors are in the rear of the unit. I've ran an extension to go where the cig lighter used to be.

I've used the aux maybe once.. but I usually use either the 32GB usb full of tracks/films, or bluetooth audio

That's very detailed! My friend owns a Peugeot 106 and has a sub am amp and Speakers etc! Everything cost him £300 together and it's top of the range stuff! I was gonna get the link from him but I doubt I'll cope well with the wiring! Thanks man! Need to watch a video first I think haha! YouTube is the way to go!

What make equipment does he have? If he's told you it'd top of the range for that price he's telling fibs :p

To put it into perspective.. the Focals I purchased cost me 200 for 2.. Then with an amp basically 300.. that's without the sub or monoblock amp, or any of the wiring

YouTube is your best friend

I'm not sure but he did a load of research and this stuff came out on top! I've seen it all and heard it and it's honestly the best sounding I've heard! I'll see if he can remember the link but he bought his car and did it up all together cost him 1600 and that includes buying the car and gti kit and stuff! It's so nice

Hi,

You will need an aftermarket conversion kit for the mk6 fiesta,

The kit will contain everything required to easily install your aftermarket headunit.

I recommend fitting a double din rather than a singe din flip up unit,

Double din works best with a reverse camera DVD playback, can even install a PlayStation2 but its your vehicle do what you want yourself.

Pioneer are the best headunit range on the market good solid reliability,

My guess with the Halfords refurbished headunit is that it was a display model.

If buying a headunit log on to dynamicsounds.co.uk

Or

Soundevo.co.uk

Both suppliers are guaranteed quality and value for money.

You may like to view my full list of guides which can be viewed on my profile page:

Or

If your using the forum App follow this link: http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/68214-full-list-lennys-guides/

All of the above guides have been performed on a Mk2.5 Focus but the principles are the same on any 12v vehicle.

Here's my build thread aswell,

I've documented a lot of info regarding fitting amplifiers, capacitors, USB aux ports and choosing the correct cable from around page 50 onwards link: http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/41443-taking-oval-to-blue-horizon-lennys-build-thread-2010-2013/

What sub & amp are you going for?

Also. You do NOT need a fascia kit.

The Pioneer unit contains a cage which fits the mk6 perfectly. Whilst removing the old radio, cut out the two plastic seperators where the old radio used to be. The fascia included with the Pioneer head unit will fit! I know it fits as I was too tight to buy one when the unit arrived so I tried the one it came with. Perfect

I'll get some pictures for you now

No prob,

Your friend can probably advise you in the process of the build,

But if you would like a second opinion on anything were here to help and discuss any time.

I've fitted PlayStation 2, reverse camera dual screen monitor, 10" flip down monitor, 4G WiFi, dual amps,

DVB TV tuner with live pause & record, discreet dual camera dvr dash cam system, footwell lighting, ambient cup holder shadow lighting, ford logo puddle lighting, additional boot lighting, dual 6000k reverse lighting.

Basiclly anything that can be done we've got it coverd and can advise were not here to show off,

We here to assist you in achieving results and get the most value for money

+1... We've both been through the failures & successes of a decent ICE install.. but we both made it in the end! Haha

Although you went a little further than me in terms of backseat entertainment! I ran out of money :(

Straight away you've got a problem.

The amp is fine powering the subwoofer.

But it provides 50w RMS X2 (so 50w a side in the front).

The Speakers they're including in the 'deal' require 70w RMS a side :). They should've spotted this.. probably hoping people wouldn't notice.

The 6x9 will still work, but they'll be under powered
