Hi there can anyone help, firstly I know this type of request has gone around the block many times so not trying to bore the pants of you, Seriously seeking advice on my Escort. "R" reg. Hatchback. 1.6 Zetec
engine with air conditioning and 1 one radiator cooling fan.

1. The radiator cooling fan 'does not' cut in when engine is hot.

2. But same fan cuts in and out when air conditioning is switched on ?

3. Have read through Haynes manual until my eyes have turned square also in car user's manual regarding " fuse & relay numbers " One contradicts the other.

4. The Haynes manual shows 2 two very poor wiring diagrams of the cooling Fan controls. One showing a cooling fan with no relay and the second one with a relay.

Actions taken so far.

5. Checked allicon_confused.gif fuses and all ok.

6. Checked both engine water temp. sender units one fitted on top of the

thermostat housing and the other one on the bottom of the radiator hose.

one 2 pin and the other 4 pin, tested ok for continuity and resistance.

7. Linked out sender unit, switched ignition on and fan runs ok.

8. Engine water temp. gauge working ok from thermostatic sender unit.

9. Heavy duty auxiliary fuses fitted aft of the engine bay 4 off all ok.

10.Relay box adjacent to fuse compartment under drivers consul shows no

relay for cooling fan.

All ideas gratefully received.

Regards,
