south_bound
Just a quick question on brake fluid - the manual says to change every 2 years but I suspect mine hasn't been done for much longer than that, if ever. What are the potential issues of not doing this (the brakes seem to work fine when I drive)?
MONDEO TXS 2.2
Brake fluid degrades over time & absorbs moisture ( water ) which reduces it's efficiency
MONDEO TXS 2.2
Worst case scenario is total brake failure - so definitely change the brake fluid
GingerFlame
Don't use cheap fluid that's 2.50 a bottle either.. learnt that lesson when I used some out of desperation with the old bike...
MONDEO TXS 2.2
Make sure it's DOT 4 or 5.1 - most are DOT 4 Edited August 21, 2015 by MONDEO TXS 2.2
kingsblue
I wouldn't use DOT 5 its silicone, stick to DOT 4 or possibly DOT 5.

That Guy
Brake pads ( if required ) & discs, If required :P Thanks for the suggestion for brakes, these seem find and when it had the MOT a few weeks back the garage checked them too and said they were fine. I was going to try and bleed them myself incase they needed it but not sure if thats an easy thing to do yourself? Also going to add Idle Control Valve Cleaning to the list with a bit of Carb Cleaner, its only two bolts and the car is a little jumpy when changing gears so hoping this will fix that issue, wondering if the two bolts that hold the ICV on have a certain torque setting or you just to them nice and tight?
