wingnuts
Any advice please? I want to hard wire my Garmin using a hidden lighter socket. Can anyone tell me where/how to access the fuse for the cars standard lighter socket or would it be better to find a fuse which is ignition controlled. Is the fuse box in the passenger compartment behind the glovebox? Thanks for looking. Forgot - its 2011 Fiesta 1.4 auto
Stoney871
It's best to tap into a circuit that is ignition live. Rear wiper circuit is popular.

wingnuts
I am going to fasten a cigarette lighter socket under the panelling to plug the sat nav into instead of cutting the wire which is I think coaxial type, would it be practical to connect the live 12v with a scotchlok at the exit from the fuse? Stoney871
I wouldn't use a scotchlock. You would be better off with a fusetap.
