Maxxxykins
Hi All,Had my petrol Fiesta Titanium about a year a few months now, only 14,000 miles, got it when it had 4,000 on it. Since my last service from Ford around 2-3 months ago, my engine has started getting louder and louder, with a constant ticking noise when running, when you turn it off it's silent. I had another issue after my service, where the aircon unit would come on by itself, instead of taking it back I had a look myself and some of the wiring was loose?? But that's fine now. The sound from the engine started off quiet but at this moment in time everytime I start the engine I can now hear it ticking away, never sounded like this before.I've attached a link to a video I took last night, not sure if its enough for anyone to give any idea of what this can be? Is there any common things to check? The last part of the video I literally stuck my phone in the engine so thats why the sound changes. I've put it side by side with another Fiesta 1.4 61 plate and it sounds horrible compared to that!Got my MOT coming up soon but would rather found out what it is before this. Cheers,
louisscale
Check your oil level when cold. I didn't realise how quickly modern engines burn oil by design until recently. Topped mine up and its now quieter.
DieselPig
Modern engines don't burn oil by design, they only burn oil if they have not been run in correctly.

Modern engines don't burn oil by design, they only burn oil if they have not been run in correctly. Yeah this isn't burning oil, seems like it was run in well as it's only just started making these noises. I've added another video on a cold startup, and revving to 2000rpm then to 3000rpm, sounds horrible. Like a train going over old train tracks uerhgh
