Well I think i'm sold on the Crystal Visions! Just gotta wait for pay day now... So from reading this, the DRL's are the same bulb as the main beam? And they're h15?

You'll not be dissapointed matey! And yeah your right, h15 are the drls through the day, as soon as you switch your dipped beam on, they become inactive until you "flash, use main beam etc" as they are your main beam... as long as youve got a Zetec S or 'lower' trim, and before the 65 plate?

I just noticed one of my Crystalvisions has gone, so that was about 13 months I had out of it. I don't do much night driving but the lights are on a lot of the time, as anyone else with auto lights will appreciate.

So that will be getting swapped tonight. I just have one question - the dead bulb is on the nearside, so is it a good idea to swap the remaining bulb into the nearside and put the new one in the driver's side? I want to see how much longer the remaining bulb lasts, but I think the driver's side bulb is probably more important in terms of night time visibility if one of them could die at any moment.

Edit: or is it better to replace both bulbs at once?

I've had the same dilemma, had one of my xenon Ultimas go on the dipped beam so just replaced the blown bulb. The other side is still good. I then had one of the fog lights go so again just replaced the dud bulb and now the other side has blown so I've got that to change at the weekend.

So in answer to your question, on the dipped beam it wouldn't have been worth changing both bulbs, but with the fog lights it would have paid me to change both..

^ Thanks for the advice. I found some other opinions online and it looks like most people are saying to swap the bulbs as a pair when one blows. The main reasons being that the bulbs lose brightness as they age so a new pair will match better, and also they will wear out evenly instead of one being older than the other when they have been changed at different times.

Also I suppose one bulb dying means the other will die soon too, so I think I'll just replace both. Then I can keep the remaining "good" bulb as a spare in the car, so next time a bulb goes there's a working one ready to replace it.

Sweet! I too wanna go for that HID look but improve light output at the same time haha, btw what you got for your fogs?

Yeah I'm same mate, I want HIDS but settling for the next best thing, 😋 I'd have HIDS put in, but Willy has said they're a lot of hassle and to be honest I want to leave things simple enough but get the best out of everything... If that makes sense? Regarding fogs, I've left them standard not touched them, if anything they'll probably be the last thing I do, because they do the job well and I don't use them that much to particularly care that much about what they look like... Saying that, it has been pretty thick fog recently, so I wouldn't mind having a look round, so if anyone has swapped out their fogs to upgrade bulbs... Let us know, I'll have a look... 😏

^ I changed my fogs to Nightbreakers, but you're right they don't get used much and for their actual purpose the standard ones would be fine. I think it's just a bit of OCD wanting all the bulbs to be perfect haha.

And I just swapped the new Crystalvisions in, they look brighter but that could just be because I expected them to be. It's amazing how the old bulbs are really burnt out and one of them was still working. I think the only reason they fail is because eventually the heat burns through the glass and the gas escapes - the filament in the dead bulb looks fine. But that just goes to show how important it is to not touch the glass when changing the bulbs (which I didn't do).

Yeah haha!😋 I think when it comes to your car... You've got to have OCD otherwise it's not really your car.. Haha😉

And regarding the crystal visions and not touching them, one of mine as I've said was pretty badly scratched trying to put them in... Was a rushed job before work, really annoyed at myself for it... So I don't think it will be long before that one goes... 😕

Really wish my fiesta had similar headlights to the Seat Leon with Full LED Headlights they look right good when I see them on the roads...

^ Yeah those LED headlights on the SEATs look really good, and it would be good to see them on the new Mondeo. Hopefully the next Fiesta will have an option for LED headlights too.

I had to swap my bulbs when it was raining so brought the headlight units inside and did them one at a time, so I could take my time with them. I don't know how anyone manages to change the bulbs without removing the whole unit, because the little metal clips holding the bulb in place are so fiddly. I bent one of them a bit too far the first time I changed the bulbs so that one has always been slightly loose, but it hasn't harmed anything because it was the other bulb that died first.

im looking to upgrade the headlights to led as i think they look much better/ light the road better. but a good kit isn't cheap and i don't want to be the first to take the plunge to find there rubbish. looked at a few kits and this is the latest kit that caught my eye.

wont lie the price is putting me off but it should last a lifetime and can be returned to halogen at any time in future if needed.

I haven't heard much about them, but they will be one step up from Crystalvisions in terms of whiter light. After a bit of googling it looks like they make up for the heavy tinting by having a different filament which produces more light but doesn't last as long. So it's a bit of a compromise.

That's good, I'm just not sure if it would fit in our headlight units. If it would, it would be a tight fit or might need you to do something to the rubber seal.

Well over the weekend I purchased some new bulbs from Halfords as I was having a nose in there and didn't want to wait to order some online and wait for them to be delivered, and I was with my friend who works in a ford garage so we went straight down there and put them in! Also put the LED sidelights in at the same time.

Can't remember the make of them, but I'm pretty pleased with them! The light output is definitely better, and they're pretty white at the same time so it's a win win :)

Sorry to bring this thread up again, I have Led's in my park lights and HID's 6000k for my main beams, but I need something for my fog lights an Headlights that matches the HID's, so basically something as white as possible, at the moment the main beams look yellow compared to my HID's

What bulbs does is it for the full beam/dipped on the unit with the LED DRL's? I see there are now some LED headlight bulbs avaliable. ANyone have any ideas about these?

I'm using Osram cool blue and have had people asking if there hids :S just like willy's hids not too bluey just white

Just the NightBreaker in the car this time round.

May gets some new HIDs in the future but need to get my lights adjusted first.

I thought that took them to Ford and they tested them ....... Said were fine they did it in front of me

^ They might have just checked that the lights are within the legal limits. When I took mine in I asked them to make sure the dipped beam is adjusted as high as it is allowed to be, and that made a big difference.
