Those Who Use Smart Pay With Their Phones

Do you have to take your phone out of your case each time? I'm trying to work out if my phone case is simply too thick or not. It's white leather :d

Ive never used it Laurie, i always pay for things with a debit card. Even then i dont use the touch system on the card, i just dont trust it all for some reason!

I'm just rubbish at remembering endless pin numbers, so a flash card or phone is ideal for me. I'm not totally trusting though and only 'top up' my phones wireless feature by 10 quid or so per time, but it's handy in the likes of Costa

Same here, it is either a credit/debit card or cash for me. I wouldn't trust having that facility on my phone, what if it were hacked/stolen? Nah, I'll leave that to the "modern" people! I'm happy using traditional methods.

Just updated case, and now it works still in the case, so defo too thick previously.

On phone 'wireless' payments are better protected than credit debit cards with the same feature. You have to (on my device / app at least) enter a pin to open the app, and another to make payments, phone has to be held against terminal as well so no danger at all of accidentally paying for someone else's coffee.

My phone is also passworded just to open the phone lol, bit fort knoxy

Which begs the question, is it then not easier to just put your credit card in and enter the pin on the machine?

The only reason not to trust contactless cards is if someone steals the card, or if you make a habit of resting your wallet on top of random card machines haha.

I don't really use it either but because it's usually less convenient than just sticking the card in the reader, because the cashier might have to press a button when they know you want to pay contactless so there's a bit of confusion.

Working in the industry, Contactless is as secure as it can be for the type of technology. There is much more validation coming in for contactless such as the likes of Apple Pay etc, because the industry is trying to improve it.

Contactless is only as liable to theft as those who can get within 3 inches of it, and even then, the technology is coded to protect itself where possible, Contactless theft is not as common as people make out! to be honest.

To be honest though, its like everything - liable to theft, and you have protection in place which will cover you if it happens, buy a nice car, TV, or sandwhich, they are all as liable to be stolen, and for the most part, they all have the same protection levels... If its stolen - you get your money back, you get a new one, and you learn to stay away from the darkened alleys at night...
