St Stolen Last Night

Hiya

I had my White Fiest ST stolen last night from outside my house in Leeds. I have both sets of keys, no signs of broken entry (i.e. no broken glass etc.) the car has literally just vanished.

Please could anyone keep an eye out if they see of anyone trying to get rid of one or see it around (a long shot I know).

Reg number was YL15 LWC. All reported to the police but any help would obviously be appreciated.

Recently upgraded from a 1.6 TDCI Zetec S to this ST and had only had it 4 weeks. Absolutely devastated :(

Thanks

Kirsty x

Sorry to hear that, and I hope it gets sorted but it could be far away by now. I'll keep an eye out for it though.

Sorry to hear that kirst it happend to me in febuary same as u no glass on floor, the police found it the next day 2miles away I saw how they got in (content removed by Moderator) they use a small device which plugs in ur diagnostics port . So I know how u feel it has sent my insurance premiums up by 300 a year aswell but look on the bright side no1 was hurt,no1 came in ur house for keys ur insurance will give u money to replace ur car. Invest in a steering lock.if u need any advice just ask x

Yeah real bad luck that happening. Hope you get it back in one piece soon. Seems now with these OBD ports etc that the good old mechanical deterant is the way to go. But what gets me is how do they get into the car in the first place?

Why have the mods removed the method of how the thieves are getting in, the thieves already know as they are stealing the cars and have stolen a lot of them, if members knew how they were getting in they might be persuaded to upgrade their security, disklok, OBD lock/relocation etc.

Hope your car is found but sadly not many do seem to be recovered.

Anyone reading this please take note and do something to deter the thieves.

It was a rather detailed explanation. Hence why I removed it.

For future reference - removing the OBD port fuse may at least delay the thieving scum, but there's clearly an easy way into these Fiestas

Too detailed? Is being fore-warned not as good as being fore armed? Can't imagine some up and coming thief is trawling FOC to find how to steal a fiesta. If there's an easy way to keep mine secure I'd like to know.

They go for the door handles. That's all you need to know. Personally I see why you would need to know what they do to the inner workings of the door.

ETIS says no so.

Sorry to hear of yet another case of ODBC port being used to gain access to a Fiesta. I have a 2014 Titanium X which was supplied only with the factory immobilized and alarm. That alarm does not include the ultrasonic and Thatcham 1 rating which is standard on the ST. However, both my car as well as the ST have the same common weak point ie the ODBC port.

I have keyless ignition so using Discloc etc was not a very attractive proposition. After some research I found the Cobra 4615 ADD Can Bus Alarm which includes battery backup siren, immobilized and ultrasonic. The system is a 2-1 Thatcham category alarm. Operation of the alarm is the same as before. I have an extra passive fob which needs to be present when operating the vehicle. I checked that my Ford warranty would not be jeopardized. The Cobra solution is less Labour intensive/intrusive for fitting than the Viper 480xv.

Hope this might help. The Cobra system costs c.£500 professionally fitted.

The OBD port is EVERY cars' weakest link - but physically entering these Fiestas causing no obvious damage at the theft scene is all to easy it seems

Disklok not an attractive proposition? 1/5 of the price of the alarm and provides a deterrent to hopefully stop them attempting to break in in the first place, each to there own s they say.

Unfortunately no security measure will ever be 100% effective.

The general aim is to make your car the less attractive/more difficult option so the thieves look elsewhere.

There are obd locks available but they aren't cheap.

I haven't bought a disklok either for the same reason. It defeats the purpose of having keyless entry i.e. the ability to get in the car and go at the press of a button. I would probably change my mind if I was parking my car in any high risk areas but luckily for me that's not the case. I've thought about taking out the OBD fuse if that's enough to stop this kind of theft, but again that's more inconvenience.

Think about how often you use the obd, probably only one or twice. Removing the fuse and hiding the port is definitely worth considering.
