Removing A Mk2 Front Wing

Hi all,

I've recently stripped back the sills on my car, treated the metal & resprayed (so far good) however on doing this it became obvious that the bottom section of the front RHS wing is 80% rust i.e. the part which the mud flap bolts through & is beyond being saved.

I know replacement (pre-sprayed) wings can be purchased which my cause a minor colour mis-match due to UV fade etc, my question is does anyone have any idea how to remove the front wing?

The Haines manual doesn't detail this process, I'm confident working on the car & am able to remove the arch liner. The only Youtube vids I could find for this are MK1's which may not have bolts etc in the same place etc.

i think its just a case of removing all the bolts from the top and bottom of the wing. I would also remove the headlight to see if there is anything there.

have a look on eBay for replacement wings, the pics might even help you if they show where the bolt holes are.

Good idea (using the eBay pics from the replacements to judge bolt locations).

Sorry about the thread revival, I need to do the drivers wing but I believe the washer bottle is there, does that need to come out?

As eluded to earlier in the thread, I ended up doing both my wings a few years ago (MK2 1.8 TDCi), I didn't have to remove the washer bottle/tank because it sits between the outer and inner wings, so basically it's still left in place once you've removed the outer wing.
