Back Ordered Part

hi, orderd a brand new 2015 zetec mondeo estate in January 15 it was delieverd 3rd june and broke down 5th june 100 miles on the clock, car recoverd by my local garage and thats where it stayed. its been there now for 3 months and awaitng of the part to be made in morocco by Delphi, everytime i think its coming they tell me its still on back order. my question are what does back order really mean and what can i do about it?

The golden rivet mention is of course in reference to the endless search for your elusive part (and in some nefarious naval references, the act of having your pants pulled down over the lengh of the delay)-

Out of interest what part are they waiting on? I would have the car recovered back to your local ford dealer, where it should be given that it's a new car.
