Speaker Issues

hello, i have owned my 2014 ford focus zetec navigator for a little over 6 months now and it has been great ill say this now yes i a am a younger driver however i am not a boy racer only reason i own a car is to get to festivals and general day to day journeys, however back to my problem over the last few weeks the audio played via my usb connected ipod has every so often cut out for a second or so and then continued playing, knowing how reliable apples cables are that was the first thing to be replaced, this seemed to work for a day or so (maybe i just subconsciously ignored it) however upon driving home from work today listening to the same device the Speakers in the front left side of the vehicle changed, this change is not one that i know how to describe other than someone dragging their nails down a chalk board in a school (altogether not a very pleasant sound), now my immediate guess is that i have got a damaged speaker through either my own fault or due to it getting wet with windows/doors open. if this is the case any advice on how to go about changing the Speakers as have not got a clue when it comes to anything electrical other than computers..

thank you in advance for any help given

Hi Oldham. Can't help you regarding the ipod issue but don't write off the speaker just yet. Does it still have that screach sou d if you listen to the radio or a CD? If so the speaker knackered but if not then its ok.

As for a replacement speaker you'll either have to but a genuine Ford one or change the front pair. Search eBay for Speakers but know this. The door speaker has a built in connection plug so I'd go for a genuine speaker from either a dealer or eBay. As for changing the speaker go on YouTube abd search on there for ford focus speaker upgrade. There's a big guy who shows how to take the door card off. It's easy. As a matter of interest where are you? Oldham perhaps?

Hello yes the speaker still has the screach noise on the radio (don't have a CD to hand to try that) the speaker are fine generally however it's only when a drum becomes part of the song the problems begin after volume level 2 or 3 depending on the song, this don't ideal as I'm a rock metal fan

Ok. Then I'd suggest swap the Speakers over just to prove it's the speaker and not the headunit. As stated. Search on YouTube for speaker upgrade on ford focus. Nice to know you're a fellow metal fan. If you are in Oldham I can point you to a very good car hifi shop and they can help you sort your speaker problem.

Thank you once again for the advice I will be looking at the Speakers today if the weather picks up as I don't have a garage or anything to cover me and the car, also I am just outside of Oldham but if the place is good can drive over

given that its a 144 plate, it will be under warranty so I would take it back to the dealers and let them deal with the headache. I recon it will be a software download to resolve...
